The French presidential election in 2022 will pit the incumbent, Emmanuel Macron, against a far-right challenger. Fortunately, that challenger is unlikely to win. Marine Le Pen has travelled this road before and not really got anywhere. That’s why the far-right may well bet on Eric Zemmour, firebrand TV presenter instead of the Nation Rally stalwarts. He may not have declared his run yet but he’s already getting better odds than them at online betting sites in France like Bet365.

The far right will make gains in the French presidential election. No one doubts this. However, they are very unlikely to make so much as to actually win. The left might not like Emmanuel Macron and his slow shift right, but will back him against the likes of Le Pen. Trouble is, the far right have a new, alarmingly popular, face. They seem about to bet on Eric Zemmour having more impact than the National Rally. Which leads to all sorts of problems for En Marche!

One of the reasons Macron has lost a lot of support on the left is his attempts to appease the centre-right. He has had to put on a show when it comes to security and immigration. The left haven’t liked that. Of course, should the far right bet on Eric Zemmour, that will force Macron even further right in the election. Of course, you’ll find the odds on Emmanuel Macron keeping his job at online sportsbook sites in France like Bet365 are still quite good. For good reason.

Emmanuel Macron Likely To See Off Challenger

Conservatives in France fear the extreme right nearly as much as the left do. They know just how divisive and dangerous it could be in what is, after all, a multicultural society. Something you can bet on Eric Zemmour attempting to reverse. He is, in essence, an extremist troll with rather good presentation skills. However much as he will attempt to win the election, he’s very unlikely to without more moderate support he just won’t gain. The far right don’t appeal to most voters.

“They spit on French history and culture, and they spit on the French people whom they want to see disappear.”

  • Eric Zemmour on the French mainstream media

Marine Le Pen knows this all too well which is why she’s put so much energy into cleaning up her party’s image. She was trying to appeal to the centre-right, just as Macron has done. However, now that may prove moot. If she doesn’t make through to that final round it just won’t matter. And she may not. Anyone who regularly puts a bet on politics in France at Bet365 will know that already. A bet on Eric Zemmour is going for far shorter prices than one on Marine Le Pen.

As a celebrity, of sorts, Zemmour is not just attracting interest from Le Pen supporters. Those  who were put off by the thug image of National Rally have found him more acceptable. He spouts the same unrealistic rhetoric, he just doesn’t come with quite so much baggage. Naturally, you can bet on Emmanuel Macron to attempt driving a wedge twixt the two. He doesn’t want them teaming up against him. Fortunately, for Macron and France, that too seems unlikely.

Bet On The French Presidential Election

  • Valerie Pecresse – 25/1
  • Jean Luc Melenchon – 16/1
  • Michel Barnier – 16/1
  • Xavier Bertrand – 14/1
  • Marine Le Pen – 13/2
  • Eric Zemmour – 5/1
  • Emmanuel Macron – 8/13

The odds on Eric Zemmour don’t indicate him winning against Macron, nor do the odds on Marine Le Pen. The polls don’t either. Whilst the far right is gaining ground, it’s by inches not miles. A fresh face won’t matter when the abhorrent words are the same. So whilst you can, in theory, take advantage of French gambling laws to bet on Eric Zemmour at Bet365 pick Macron instead. The left may not like Macron, but they’ll vote against the likes of Zemmour all day long.

We take a look at the rising star of the far right in France and note that even if they bet on Eric Zemmour they still probably won’t win the election.
