James Packer of Crown gambling firm involved in bust-up with best man, the head of Australia’s Nine Network.

The fight is reported to have taken place on Bondi Beach, where a local resident claims that the pair have initiated in a “massive street fight” outside of Packer’s home.

Resident known as Chris Walker tweeted, “Packer puckered a punch but copped a couple of hits straight to the jaw… Then they all fell on the concrete fence and I think the other guy broke his face.”

Another witness claims the mobile casino owner and Gyngell were like two animals. “It was like two mad dogs going at each other’s throats.”

The duo issued a coherent statement indicating their relationship remains the same, as it has for over three decades now. “We have been friends for over 35 years and still are.”

“In that time we have had our fair share of ups and downs. We respect each other and neither of us will be commenting further.”

Packer among the wealthiest in Australia

The reason for the fight remains unknown, however close sources claim that their friendship got spoiled after Packer and his second wife, Erica, separated half a year ago.

The business magnate is the son of the late media mogul Kerry Packer. Today, the 46-year-old ranks as one of the wealthiest people in Australia, with an estimated fortune of over AUD 6 billion ($5.5 billion).

Following the death of his father in 2005, Packer has refocused the core of his business company. He switched from the traditional media operations company, and concentrated all efforts into establishing Crown Resorts Limited, the global mobile betting firm.
