Using religious symbols in gambling can spark controversy. New online slot features Indian goddess.

While the Indian gambling laws allow only for very limited gambling, there is a wide access in India to all kinds of gambling.

Many offshore sites provide access to online casinos in India and a whole range of games these bring such as online slots, bingo, poker, blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette, keno, and much, much more.

However, sometimes controversies may result. Not only because of religious prohibitions on gambling such as those of Islam. Lately, Hindu people got offended after Playtech, a giant online gambling software maker with hundreds of game titles, has released an online slot game with a theme where the Hindu goddess Lakshmi is featured.

The game is actually called Lakshmi Gold. It is a 5 reel, 25 payline game. Goddess Lakshmi is the bonus scatter and a chant to Lakshmi is delivered during free spins. In Hinduism, Lakshmi is the symbol of good luck. Moreover, other Hindu deity, Ganesh, is the wild scatter with a jackpot payout of 10,000 coins.

Hindus find it offensive that their revealed deities were used by Playtech to promote gambling. No wonder, imagine online poker sites featuring Jesus as a bonus or Saint Mary as a wild scatter. That would certainly spark controversies. Even worse, using Prophet Mohammad as a gambling card or online slot scatter would lead to massive demonstrations, or even bloodshed. So sensitivity is advised.

Religion is not a good theme for gambling. Perhaps, Playtech went too far. At this point, Lakshmi online slot is available at few online casinos which use Playtech as a gaming platform.

Usually, online casinos choose a single vendor and use all, or most, of the games offered. Often, some of the online slots are connected to progressive jackpots among participating Internet casinos, which results in accumulated multi-million jackpots that can be busted with a single spin.
