Real Madrid have always been known for signing superstar football players instead of young talents.

If you know anything about football, you must have heard of Real Madrid, and how they focus on purchasing the best players in the world, instead of trying to discover and raise young talents with high potential. • Real associated with star signings
• One era dominated by home talent
• Young talents brought to the club recently

If you believe that is true, you might be surprised by transfer policy of the Royal Club in the previous years. They seem to have changed their focus to young talent. However, that does not mean they will not sign star players anymore!

Real Madrid have never been famous of finding young talents

Starting with a little bit of a history lesson, Real Madrid has been the most successful club in the world ever since the 1960s. They won the first 5 Champions League trophies in that era (the tournament was called European Champion Clubs’ Cup back then). They have been the first side ever to win 10 of the above-mentioned competition.

Raymond Kopa, Hector Rial, Alfredo di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas, Francisco Gento
Kopa, Rial, di Stefano, Puskas were all brought in as superstars. Gento (far right) was signed from Santander as a youngster though

Spanish gambling news report that the main reason behind their incredible success is because they have always been able to afford to purchase the best players in the world. Ferenc Puskás, Alfredo Di Stéfano, Raymond Kopa, Héctor Rial… they were all brought in as established superstars and they were all incredibly important members in writing history with the Royal Side.

However, in the 1980s, there was an unbelievable set of top-class players coming up to the first team from the reserve squad. The Quinta del Buitre referred to the 5 homegrown players of Real Madrid, who were all part of the first team and have lead the club to several successes and great achievements, even though they failed to win the Champions League.

However, that era is one of the most exceptional ones in the history of the club. Other than that, the club’s success was always brought by foreign football stars who were usually bought for a lot of money. This also resulted in the Galacticos being able to maintain their incredible richness thanks to their constant growth of income from marketing. And aside from a few bankruptcy bailouts.

Florentino Pérez took it all to the next level

Florentino Pérez has become President of Real Madrid for the first time in 2000, and has been re-elected in 2004. He purchased the team captain at the time of the arch-enemy FC Barcelona, Luis Figo, for which he was praised by millions of Real Madrid supporters, but hated by many Catalan football fans.

Pérez brought in the best football players of each year, according to the reports of online gambling sites in Spain. He paid record transfer fee for Juventus in order to claim Zinedine Zidane, but Pérez also signed Ronaldo Luiz Nazario da Lima from Inter and David Beckham from Manchester United.

Perhaps Pavon wasn’t as bad as Zidane’s genius made him look. But not good enough for Real

At the time, the President believed that signing a defender is a sign of weakness, and that is why he launched his project “Zidanes y Pavónes”. This meant that he was going to strengthen the attacking third of the squad with a world famous player every summer, while defenders will be brought in from Real Madrid Castilla, the second team of the Whites.

However, his project failed quickly as his team did not reach as many trophies as a team with stars like Figo, Ronaldo, Zidane, together with Raúl, Casillas, Roberto Carlos, would have been expected. Pérez has resigned as President of the Royal Club in 2006.

Pérez’s resignation indicated to turn focus towards young talent

Together with his resignation, Florentino Pérez, as his last step at Los Blancos, has announced the transfer of Sergio Ramos. Pérez paid EUR 27 million for Sevilla’s central defender, who was only 19 years old at the time. This move made us realize that Pérez’s views about young talents might have changed during his years as Real Madrid President.

In the following years, Real Madrid did try to discover young talents, hence they signed Gonzalo Higuaín and Marcelo in January, 2007 during Capello’s second term. Higuaín scored a lot of goals and helped the team achieve many great trophies and has left Real Madrid as a famous player in 2013, while Marcelo is still a member of the squad and is the third captain of the team.

Mobile betting sites report that this was only the beginning and latest transfers of the Royal Side also indicate the same. Last year, Real Madrid purchased several young talents, including the 16-year-old Norwegian wonderkid, Martin Odegaard, who is expected to become a superstar football player in the near future.

The Whites just announced the capture of Mateo Kovacic yesterday. The Croatian midfielder was acquired from Inter Milan. He is only 21-years-old and is believed to be at least as talented as his teammate in the national side, and from now on Real Madrid, Luka Modric.
