A Ladbrokes deal with Tabcorp would have secured the UK operator a large chunk of the Australian online gambling market.

Australian gambling news reports that a Ladbrokes deal with Tabcorp fell through in 2013. Ladbrokes approached Tabcorp three years ago, with hopes of becoming able to control a remarkable part of the Australian online gambling market. A joint venture would be the largest company offering land-based and online gambling in Australia.
The Sydney Morning Herald accounts that David Attenborough, Tabcorp’s chief executive refused the possible Ladbrokes deal with Tabcorp immediately. Tabcorp was already the number one company offering online gambling in Australia back then.

Tabcorp rejected to confirm this news. Ladbrokes was simply unavailable when approached to make a comment on the matter.
