Commissioner Roger Goodell has doubled down on his claims that legalized NFL betting is not a positive thing.

The NFL is the most powerful sports league in the US. Millions of fans around the country follow the sport intently, but should they be able to bet on the games? According to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, no.

In a recent interview with MMQB, Goodell reiterated his stance that legalized NFL betting should not be available, stating “We are not changing our position as it relates to legalized sports gambling, we still don’t think it is a positive thing.”

Goodell made this claim on the verge of the Oakland Raiders gaining approval to move to Las Vegas, where sports gambling is perfectly legal. When asked about the chances of the approval getting denied, Goodell told the media he’s confident there will be no issues. “I think we will have a vote, and I think we will have a positive vote,” he said.

Is online legalized NFL betting available in the US?

While land-based sports betting is limited to a number of places in the country, there are a wide range of great NFL betting options available online. In terms of online sportsbooks in the US, the situation is a little complicated. Only a handful of states have legalized online sports betting, though many more are in the process of doing so. In states where it’s legal, the best US NFL betting site you can access is likely Intertops.

Online daily fantasy sports sites in the US are another great legalized NFL betting option. Most US states allow daily fantasy sports for cash, as it’s considered to be a game of skill rather than luck. One of the best sites offering daily fantasy football is Fan Duel.
