The next stop in the 2022 LPGA Tour is the BMW Ladies Championship held between 20-23 October in Gangwon, South Korea. It is one of the few Asian tournaments on the calendar this season so players from the area should play well. Like the South Korean world No1, Jin Young Ko as she is also the defending champion. But the 2022 LPGA BMW Championship odds mention New Zealand player Lydia Ko as the biggest favorite. Let’s see their chances of winning below.

This will be only the third edition of the BMW Ladies Championship after it was canceled in 2020. It replaced the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship which was held in Incheon. This year’s tournament is hosted in a new location, at the Oak Valley Country Club, in Wonju, Gangwon, Korea. 78 players will take part in the 72-hole event with no cuts. Including the defending champion, Jin Young Ko who hasn’t competed since August due to an injury. And other local favorites like Sei Young Kim, Hyo Joo Kim, and Anna Lin. While another Korean player, Na Yeon Choi will make her last appearance in front of the home fans. They can also support other top players like Lydia Ko, Minjee Lee, and Danielle Kang on the field.

2022 LPGA BMW Championship Odds Mention Ko and Thitikul as Top Favorites

Lydia Ko is currently in fifth place in the world rankings but she ranked first in the CME Global Points. The Korean-born New Zealand player has one win and ten top-10 finishes this season. Including a T3 finish at the 2022 Evian Championship. She is in good form after another third-place finish in her last event in Texas two weeks ago. Ko was T3 here last year but she is favored to win the tournament now by online sportsbooks in South Korea. They offer the smallest odds, 7.50 for her victory.  One of her biggest rivals can be 19-year-old Atthaya Thitikul who follows her with an odds of 12.00. The young Thai talent won her first LPGA Tour title this season at the JTBC Classic. And she recently got her second win at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Thitikul moved to second place in the world rankings and is favored to win the Rookie of the Year Award at the end of the season. Ahead of the local favorite, Hye Jin Choi who is another young star of the sport. Even though the 23-year-old player hasn’t gotten any wins in her debut season, she finished third in the 2022 US Women’s Open. Besides a T2 finish in the CP Women’s Open at the end of August. The 2022 LPGA BMW Championship odds mention her with an odds of 19.00.

Chances of the defending champion and other top-10 players

The world No1, Jin Young Ko missed the last month after struggling with a wrist injury. She won the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore this March. And also finished second in the Palos Verdes Championship the following month. But the 27-year-old hasn’t achieved similar results since the US Women’s Open. She didn’t even make the cut on her last two appearances. Now Ko can get back to winning on home soil and become the first Korean champion after 12 winless championships. Online gambling sites in South Korea offer an odds of 23.00 for her victory. Her compatriots, Hyo Joo Kim, and Sei Young Kim have even better chances of winning according to their odds (17.00 and 21.00). Hyo Joo Kim won the Lotte Championship this season and finished T3 in the Evian Championship. Sei Young Kim’s best result in 2022 has been a T5 finish in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Besides the Korean players, US and Japanese players can also do well in this tournament.  Like the world No13, Danielle Kang with an odds of 13.00 to get her seventh LPGA Tour title in Korea. The 29-year-old US player received treatment for a tumor on her spine earlier this year. But she seems to be back in form after finishing second and T3 in her last few appearances. The same odds are offered for the victory of the world No9 Nasa Hataoka on 22Bet. The Japanese player won the LA Open in April. And she finished in the top ten in two majors in the season.
