The Professional Darts Corporation will organize its first event since 2019 in Australia this weekend, the 2022 PalmerBet Queensland Darts Masters. The best players will compete in Townsville on the 12-13 August including Michael Van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price. They are also the top favorites of PDC Queensland Masters prediction. But the local favorites, Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock can also perform well. Along with the winner of the first Women’s World Matchplay, Fallon Sherrock.

We can find great names though in the contenders from the world-ranking leader Gerwyn Price to the local legend, Simon Whitlock. The tournament is part of the 2022 World Series of Darts. It is the fourth stop of the six-stage event. Townsville is a new hosting city that will welcome the field for the first time in Australia in 2019. The winner of the event can take home £20,000 from the £60,000 prize fund besides the glory.

Michael van Gerwen won this year’s World Matchplay after he defeated Gerwyn Price in the final. It was his second victory this year following his success at the Premier League Play-offs in Berlin. MVG has already won World Series events in Australia before, in Perth and in Melbourne. The Dutch player hasn’t won any stage this season but it can easily change in Townsville this weekend. At least according to online sportsbooks in Australia that offer the smallest odds, 3.75 for his win.

One of his main rivals can be again the PDC Merit of Order leader Gerwyn Price who has the odds of 5.50 in the PDC Queensland Masters prediction. The Iceman is without any major title this season but he finished as a runner-up in the World Matchplay. And also in the World Cup of Darts playing along with Jonny Clayton. Price hasn’t won any event in Australia yet, just like Dimitri van den Bergh who follows him closely in the favorites. The Belgian has been in great form this year after winning the Nordic and the Dutch Darts Masters. He is leading the World Series Order of Merit and has the odds of 6.00 to win again.

Smith, Clayton, and the Aussie favorites

Michael Smith won the first stage of the 2022 World Series, the US Masters in June which was his second victory. Bully Boy achieved the biggest success of his career at the beginning of the year when he finished as a runner-up at the 2022 PDC World Championships. He also reached the final of the 2022 UK Open but lost there against Danny Noppert 11-10.  His odds to win now are 7.00. The same odds are offered for the victory of Jonny Clayton who got all his four PDC titles last year. This season he hasn’t been as brilliant. But he still reached the semi-final at The Masters and at the Premier League Play-off. Besides the final of the World Cup of Darts.

Online gambling sites in Australia also mention Damon Heta among the favorites with the odds of 13.00. He won the World Cup of Darts along with Simon Whitlock which was his biggest success so far. Heta also won the Brisbane Darts Masters in 2019 and hoping for a similar result on home soil. Just like his more experienced compatriot, Simon Whitlock whose win at the World Cup was his first trophy since 2012. The Wizard was close to winning a World Series event in 2014 but he finished as a runner-up then. He reached the quarter-final at the 2022 Masters and at the Dutch Darts Championship. Now the Wizard’s odds for another win are 34.00 on bet365.
