There’s nothing quite like enjoying the cricket on a balmy summers afternoon with a light breeze playing in the trees and the sound of the ice floating in your Pimms clinking on the glass. Indeed the final day of the last test against Sri Lanka at Lords was nothing like that at all and the hosts England had to see their hopes of a whitewash dashed by a downpour, but we can still take away much from the series to help us bet on the one day international cricket matches ahead.

1st One Day International

• England vs Sri Lanka
• At Trent Bridge
• On June 21st

The final test at Lords had been much touted as being a likely third win in the series for an England team that had thus far shown no mercy to the visiting Sri Lankans and if you were apt to bet on sports in the UK you too would have put your money on white-wash 3-0 series final score, but alas the British weather decided not to play ball and with bursts of rather heavy rain the day ended up a bit of a damp draw. Such a shame, but such are the ways of test cricket played over five days.

Does The 2-0 Test Win Signpost ODI Results?

A bet on the one day international cricket matches between England and Sri Lanka then are an interesting proposition because whilst test cricket runs that five day marathon, a one day game is an all out sprint and Sri Lanka can be awfully quick off the blocks, the question is will Morgan and Co, be able to make the runs fast enough? Unfortunately on the final day at Lords we were never really going to find out as the rain kept the overs to a bare minimum and the score to a draw, but in a limited overs match it’s all about speed.

ODI Squad News

• England Unchanged
• Sri Lanka drop Siriwardana
• Add Mararoof & Randiv

The England side is pretty much unchanged and with the experience of Morgan at the helm there will be a lot of eyes on Bairstow after that magnificent 167, the highest score of any wicket keep on home soil, can he pull it off again? There’s a lot of people in the UK gambling news headlines on the back pages will once again be praising this man, despite that dropped catch. Finn in is, of course and if you’re going to make a stats bet on the one day international cricket matches, he’ll be one too watch on sites like Betfair.

The Sri Lankan squad meanwhile sees the dropping of all-rounder Milinda Siriwardana, and the arrival in the squad of Suraj Randiv, Danushka Gunathilaka, Seekkuge Prasanna, Upul Tharagang and Farveeze Maharoof, all of whom will be looking to make a difference at Trent Bridge next week, as the team tries to shake off what has been a rather disastrous run of test performances for the team, only winning two of their last eight test encounters, going into limited overs games , and they may well be worth a bet on the One day international cricket matches or even the T20 to come this summer.

Of course if you’re going to be taking advantage of UK gambling laws to bet on the one day international cricket match ahead you can get around 2/5 on England right now and about 2/1 on Sri Lanka at various sites like Bet365 etc, but given the nature of this fast and furious form of the game, and the English weather, their test records may not tell the whole story so beware of seeing that 2-0 victory of England‘s as being the writing on the wall for Sri Lanka, this is an entirely different ball game.
