But let’s go back to the songs of English clubs. The anthem of West Ham United has a strange title, I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles. It was written in 1918 but it only became the anthem of West Ham in the 1930s. Then the manager of the team, Charlie Paynter met a boy who looked like the character from the Bubbles painting which was also used in a soap commercial. The boy played for West Ham later and was called Bubbles while the song was sung by the supporters.

Blue Moon

Manchester City has a relatively new club song in Blue Moon. Fans only started to use it in the 1989-90 season. The song is an old melody, it dates back to 1934 and was written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. It had many covers since it’s born, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Rod Stewart all sang their own versions.

Originally it was the anthem of lower league club Crewe Alexandra. City fans only started to sing the song in 1989 in Anfield. After their first game of the season against Liverpool they had to wait a lot after the end of the game. To entertain themselves they started to sing Blue Moon which became the club’s anthem after. Premier League is on hold at the moment, but you can make bets on virtual games until its return.

Famous anthems from other countries

In Italy, fans are even more enthusiastic than in England, and they sing the club anthems with lots of passion. Like the fans of AS Roma, who sing the song called Roma, Roma by singer Antonello Venditti before every game. While at the end of the games his other song, Grazia Roma can be sung. In Spain FC Barcelona’s anthem is the most famous, which is really great to sing along, especially at the end. Cant del Barca was written in 1974, for the 75th anniversary of the club. It was performed first with a 3500 chorus before the FC Barcelona and East Germany game. Now it’s sung before the games, which is a really unique experience thanks to the 100, 000 fans of Camp Nou.

It feels great to belong somewhere.

In Germany Bayern Munich’s anthem, Stern des Sudens (Star of the South) is one of the most known. It is sung by the fans before the games as well. It might face some competition though from the original club anthem which was written in 1907. Bayernlied was the first official anthem of the club and it might return to the stands now.

You’ll never walk alone

Probably it’s the most famous football anthem in the world, which is mostly connected to Liverpool. But actually this song is often sung by the fans of Celtic, Feyenord, Borussia Dortmund and many other clubs. But it has become really famous at Anfield, where emotions are always high during the singing of the song. You’ll never walk alone was originally a tune from a musical called Carousel written in 1945 by Rodgers and Hammerstein. It became the anthem of Liverpool in 1963. Then the manager of the club, Bill Shankly heard the version performed by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

Since then it can’t be separated by the club, fans sing it in the Premier League, FA Cup or Champions League games, which we hope to see soon again with odds available on bet365. To learn more about the site, you can also read our latest review about bet365 sportsbook.
