The world’s weirdest sports is journey into the illogical.

The world’s weirdest sports prove that anything is possible. No matter how long the world turns, as long as there are people living there will always be sport. Some may argue what defines a “real sport”, but fortunately that didn’t stop many people from trying to create organized sport from the bizarre. These sports may not make waves in mobile casinos but they have definitely caused some ripples.
• Wife carrying winner gets her weight in beer
• Cheese racing can be dangerous
• Bog snorkeling in 55 meters of peat bog

Ironing is something that tends the baffle many. The last explanation of this sport is “the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt.” Well if that wasn’t strange enough, imagine ironing competitions in places like caves, forests, waterfalls and in kayaks on the water. We can blame this one on the Brits. Its strangeness has attracted quite a bit of attention.

The world’s weirdest sports list starts in Finland

Wife carrying may not be the top of the world’s weirdest sports list, but it deserves a mention. Developed in Finland, the sport is played the way it sounds. Each player must carry his wife through a 253-meter long obstacle course as fast as they can. As simple as it sounds, the course must have one dry and two water based obstacles. The wife must weigh at least 49 kilograms. The strangest part of this sport might be that the winner of the World Championships receives an amount of beer equal to his wife’s weight.

Normally any activity associated with being underwater, is rendered “foolish” and rarely mentioned in gambling news. “Octopush” is a classic example of this. Octopush or underwater hockey is played on the bottom of a pool. Just like in traditional ice, roller or field hockey, players have to drive a puck towards their opponents end using hockey sticks. Unfortunately, since people aren’t born with gills, players constantly have to swim up to the surface for air.

Bossaball is an unholy marriage of volleyball and something unknown that’s Belgian. Similar to volleyball, players have to keep a ball in the air while hitting it over a net. That’s about where the similarities end. In Bossaball, players can hit the ball up to eight times prior to sending it over the net. Matches are played on an inflatable pad with a one trampoline in the middle. Each team has one attacker that is on the trampoline. The attacker’s ability to soar in the air while making “super harsh shots” is entertaining.

Zorbing is a sport that involves going inside of a big transparent hamster ball, while going down a hill. The zorb or “big ass ball” is formed from two inflatable balls which works as a shock absorber. Sometimes water is placed in the zorb for a more “heightened” effect. Normally, one to three people are strapped into the zorb. It isn’t clear the competitive nature of this activity, but it still seems fun nevertheless.

The world’s weirdest sports continues with cheese racing

The world’s weirdest sports have risen to a new level with cheese racing. Where else would you expect people to run down a hill chasing a wheel of Gloucester cheese? Well Gloucestershire UK of course. The sport does have a disclaimer, according to mobile betting providers. On the sign it reads “cheese rolling is a dangerous activity for both participants and spectators. The cheese roll is not managed. You are strongly advised not to attend. It is especially unsuitable for children. You attend entirely at your own risk.”

Parkour comes from the term “parcours du combatant.” Its French origins are obvious, and they were intended to help train military personnel. Many believe that the sport takes on a “non-combative” martial arts approach. Sometimes called “free running”, parkour involves moving over obstacles by adapting more to the environment. Participants normally have to run, jump, climb, balancing and do other feats that border on acrobatics.

You almost feel like you want to try it yourself, hm?

Bog snorkeling may sound like the world’s weirdest sport because it probably is. Players have to wear a snorkel and flippers and swim their way through 55 meters of peat bog for two lengths. Players must make the fastest time possible only through the use of their flippers. Just for clarity, a bog is a pool-like area that is filled with dead plant material and is considered one of four main types of wetlands.

Yes the rumors are true. Chess boxing is not just some cult fantasy, but a real life sport. This majestic mix of chess and boxing is quite simple. Matches consist of rounds that alternate between boxing and chess lasting up to 11 rounds. The winner is either determined by knockout for checkmate. If the chess game is tied, boxing points will determine the winner. If the boxing is tied, then the person using the black pieces wins.
