We’re just a few months away from the NHL Championship. Here are some of the best betting underdogs to win the Stanley Cup this year.

The 2016-17 NHL season has been one of the most exciting in recent memory. A number of favorites to win have already emerged, but there’s still plenty of games left. Let’s look at a few of the best betting underdogs you can pick.

San Jose Sharks: 17.00

Back in May of 2016, 17 of 21 NHL betting experts picked the San Jose Sharks to win the Stanley Cup this year. They have had a solid season thus far, going 31-17. Captain Joe Pavelski has been great this season, but may not be up to the level to win the Conn Smythe Award, as many analysts predicted he could earn this season.

2017 NHL Stanley Cup Betting Odds
  • San Jose Sharks: 17.00
  • Anaheim Ducks: 19.00
  • Ottawa Senators: 26.00
The Sharks are leading the Pacific Division, but nearly all online sportsbooks in the US list them as a considerable NHL betting underdog. Why is this? To put in simply, there are teams that have looked more impressive ahead of them.

In fact, Intertops have seven other teams in front of them with better odds to win the Stanley Cup. Before a recent loss to the Oilers, the Sharks were on a tear with 6 straight wins. The aforementioned loss hurt their betting odds though, but at 17.00, they are one of the best betting underdogs to win the Stanley Cup this year.

Anaheim Ducks

The team directly behind the Sharks in the betting odds are also in the Pacific Division, the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks have flown under the radar this season, with a 27-15 record and alternating wins and losses in their past 4 games.

The ducks have some great players, and if they put together a solid win streak they can certainly earn a shot in the Stanley Cup this year. Ryan Getzlaf has been tremendous in his role as team captain, while younger players like Ondrej Kase and Nick Ritchie are seen as the future of the team.

As we said before, not many Stanley Cup betting analysts are going with the Ducks to win this year, but they can get it done. If they lose their upcoming game against the Colorado Avalanche however, their chances might be over. The Ducks’s odds to win the Stanley Cup this year are set at 19.00, according to Intertops.

Ottawa Senators: 26.00

The lone Canadian team on this list of best underdogs to win the Stanley Cup is the Ottawa Senators. With a record of 26-15, the Senators are now fighting for their chance just to make it into the playoffs. They recently had one of the more exciting games of the season by losing 6-7 against the Blue Jackets, but won their next game in a 3-0 victory over the Capitals.

Stanley Cup Betting Favorites
  • Minnesota Wild: 8.00
  • Washington Capitals: 8.00
  • Columbus Blue Jackets: 8.50
  • Montreal Canadiens: 9.00
The Senators last time playing in the Stanley Cup was in 2007, where they lost in a five game series to the Anaheim Ducks. They have also qualified for the playoffs in 15 of the past 19 seasons. Swedish player Erik Karlsson has helped the team to earn the number-2 spot in the Atlantic Division, yet they are still seen as a massive underdog this year.

Ottawa has the lowest odds to win the NHL Championship this year at 26.00, according to Intertops. With a few more wins, especially in their upcoming game with the Panthers, their odds to make US gambling news by winning the Stanley Cup will likely go up.
