Though the notorious UIGEA will be turning into law this December, there is a lot of activity on the other side of the subject that may turn things in the U.S. 180 degrees. There is a strong force in congress that is pushing legislation in the direction of legalized online gambling. At this point, American gambling laws prevent banks from allowing transactions that are used for internet gambling.

Punters can be happy for the activities of Representative Barney Frank, a congressman who is visibly and unabashedly standing up for their rights. Congressman Frank’s intentions were to hold a floor debate in the House of Representatives in the first week of December. Unfortunately, due to holidays and Republican efforts, this seems highly unlikely.

Apparently, any legislative action to be taken on the subject of online gambling will be happening in the early months of 2010. Democratic Senator Christopher Dodd is pushing similar legislation in the Senate. At this point he, like Frank, has been delayed. Nevertheless, punters can feel comfortable knowing that their interests are being represented adequately in the U.S. government.

All congressmen supporting the various bills in favor of the legalization of internet gambling believe that it is important that the legislation and discussions be carried out now, while the terror of economic crisis is still fresh in our minds.

This is an important factor due to the fact that the internet gambling industry could bring very high revenues to both state and the federal governments. It is estimated that US online gambling revenues could reach as high as $20 billion by 2014, should the laws in its favor be passed in 2010.

Internet gambling in the United States has a great future and the dawn of the industries complete legalization is just over the horizon. Frank’s bill is receiving more support in the House every day, and feelings are paralleled in the Senate. Online gamblers from USA can feel confident that their stance is being represented. Hold in there punters; freedom is on its way!
