Following the enactment of Investment Promotion and Protection Act of 1992, gambling became legal in Tanzania, regulated by the Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT). In 2012 GBT figures showed gamblers' financial transactions rose to more than Tsh460 Billion ($291 million) per year. The country has experienced more than 20% growth in year on year gaming tax revenues in 2012.
