Gambling in Estonia
Gambling in Estonia is considered to be a legal activity when done in accordance with the country’s gambling legislation. As of January 2017, all forms of gambling are legal in the country. What is peculiar about Estonia, is that arcades hold the same status as casinos, as legislation makes no distinction between the two, considering them both to be “games of chance operators”. The Ministry of Finance and the Tax and Customs board are the regulatory bodies responsible for the oversight of the gambling sector in Estonia.
Online Gambling in Estonia
With the Estonian Gambling Act 2009 started the regulation the Online gambling in the country for the first time. As of January 2017, the two main laws that control online gaming in the country are the Gambling Act and the Gambling Tax Act. At the beginning, only local sites were allowed to offer their gambling products online, but from January 2011 the market was opened for foreign operators too under the condition that they have a license from the Estonian authorities. Unlicensed operators are actively block by the regulatory bodies.
