Online sportsbook sites in Australia consider three top contenders to likely win the coveted prize. They are the Transgender comedian Cassie Workman, the British comedian James Acaster, and Hannah Gadsby. However, the 2019 Helpmann Awards betting odds indicate Cassie Workman is the favourite for her stand-up show “Giantess”.
Workman’s “Giantess” got five-star review from Herald Sun
Cassie Workman received a nomination for her work “Giantess”, which is the only local show to get five-star review from Herald Sun this year. Her “Giantess” show is a story of self acceptance. Thus, she interweaves music, comedy, storytelling and illustration. The show is a deeply personal monologue, exploring what it is to feel different as a 13-year-old.

Online sportsbook news sites in Australia call Workman’s show as poetic, and a deeply personal insight into the transgender experience. The show brilliantly manages to leave zero doubt that this is a comedy. The multi-award comedian has won the Melbourne comedy festival’s best newcomer award in 2011. In addition, she received a Barry Award nomination in 2013. The 2019 Helpmann Awards betting odds value at 2.25 for Workman to add the Best Comedy Performer to her awards’ list.
Gadsby was recognized for her “Nanette” show
Hannah Gadsby, 41, received a nomination for her “Douglas” show, the follow up of her last show “Nanette”. The show will be available at Netflix in 2020. She has already won a Peabody Award for her “Douglas” show. However, she became well recognized after her other Netflix special “Nanette” was popular.
Hannah Gadsby spent more than a decade performing stand-up comedy. Thus, the last couple of years have given her new ideas to think and talk about. Particularly, Nanette and Douglas have inspired Hannah to put pen on paper and turn out a show you could not possibly expect. To no surprise, Gadsby has a very good chance to win the Helpmann Award with 3 odds at 22BET Sportsbook.
Acaster the second Brit ever nominated for the award
James Acaster is the second Brit ever to receive the Helpmann Award nomination. He secured a seat in the shortlist for his new stand-up show “Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999”. Hence, he hopes to win the Best Comedy Performer with a value of 5 odds at 22BET Sportsbook.
The Helpmann Awards were established in 2001 to honor Sir Robert Helpmann. Thus, they aim to celebrate, and promote the local live performance industry. The Australian ceremony tries take a similar role of the Tony Awards on Broadway and the Olivier Awards in London.
