Primeira Liga is the first division of the Portugese football league system. It takes place annually between August and May. Only five teams managed to win the title so far, including the three giants. These are Porto, Benfica and Sporting. The champions are automatically qualify for the Champions League, the runner-ups place get a place in the play-offs. The 3rd and 4th teams can try their luck in the Europa League, the latter has to play a qualification round. It’s always hard to bet on such an unpredictable league as the Portugese one.
