The 2019-20200 season of the women’s biathlon world cup is almost at half time, with 5 more race weekends ahead. Currently, Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff is leading the overall standing for a little surprise. Wierer had some success earlier, she won three bronze medals in the World Championships in the relay. She also won two bronzes in the Olympic Games in the mixed relay and a silver in Pursuit in the World Championship in 2016.  But last year she reached the top with becoming the world champion in the mass start. She also won the World Cup in both the overall and pursuit event.   The Italian has started this season strongly, with winning the first two races in the 7.5km sprint. But later she couldn't keep up with her biggest rival, Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff. Eckhoff has won all 3 events in the French race, and two more others, making her the leader after the first half of the season. Her great performance is a bit of a surprise even though she is a former world and Olympic champion.  But in the world cup, she hasn't been that convincing finishing around the top ten most of the time. This season she seems to be in her best form though, we'll see if she can keep her lead until the end of the season.

Other favorites according to the 2020 Biathlon Women's World Cup betting predictions

Hanna Oberg is a Swedish biathlete, finishing fifth last season. She won the individual race in the last Olympics by surprise, as she hasn’t got any podium before.  She also won the race in the world championship racing on home soil, in Ostersund. Oberg is also part of relay teams just like the others, they finished second in both the Olympics and the World Championship. She's got two podium finishes so far in the season, but she will need more to be on the overall podium in March. Surprises of the season

She is only in 13th place, more than 200 points behind the leaders, with 9th place finishes as her best result so far besides winning the mixed relay event in the first race in Sweden.  She is still a very talented biathlete, she was competing with Wierer in the mixed relay team which won the bronze in Pyeongchang. They also won the bronze together in the mixed relay this year in the World Championship. On top Vittozzi managed to win a silver in the individual race here.
