The 2019/20 NHL season is scheduled to start again on the 1st of August with 24 teams competing for the Stanley Cup. 12 teams from both the Eastern and Western Conference will take part in the special playoffs organised in two hub cities. In the shortened season and new playoff system, the first four teams from both conferences are already through to the next round. But they will play one game against each other to define the order of the top 4. So surely they are aiming to get much further this time, with the lead of their Russian top goalscorer Nikita Kucherov.

Last season’s champions are also in the favourites

As we mentioned, St Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup last season and they also won this year’s regular season in the Western Conference. The team won their first Stanley Cup in 2019 after reaching the final for the fourth time in the club’s history. They kept their great form this season as well and have the chance to defend their title. Online gambling sites in the US are giving them the odds of 8.30 to do so. Even though they are only ranked third in the possible Western Conference winners. Where Vegas Golden Knights are ahead of them with the odds of 3.50. The team has only been playing in the NHL since 2017 but already reached the final in their first season. They lost there though against the Washington Capitals. With players like Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog, and Nathan MacKinnon the team has one of the best first line. Along with young players, Colorado can easily win their third Stanley Cup, their odds are 8.70 to do so.
