The 27th PDC World Championship will be held at Alexandra Palace in London, between the 13th of December and the 1st of January. The top favorite in the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship betting odds is the Dutch giant, Michael van Gerwen. He is also the reigning champion.

In the tournament, the highest-ranked 32 Pro Tour Order of Merit players meet 32 players who qualified from all around the world. The winners of the first-round games are meeting the top 32 Order of Merit players who joins the competition in the second round. They will have two more rounds before reaching the quarter-final, it is a long tournament. The total prize money is £2,5 million with the winner taking home £500,000 at the end.

2020 PDC World Darts Championship betting odds: van Gerwen is top favorite

Michael van Gerwen has won the world championship three times so far.  He is the most successful player after the legend, Phil Taylor who won it 14 times. But Taylor retired in 2018, and his throne is waiting for van Gerwen now.

The giant Dutch won last year as well, beating Michael Smith 7-3 in the final. After that, he has won the 2019 Masters, where he defeated James Wade. He was also the best in the Premier League, where he won against Rob Cross in the final. But van Gerwen has also some weaker races during the summer, where he hasn’t reached even the semi-finals. So he can be beaten, even in the world championship, but it will be a difficult task. He is the top seed and online sportsbooks in the UK are giving him the best chance to win. His odds are 2.10.

Players who can stop van Gerwen

Probably second seed Rob Cross has the best chance to defeat van Gerwen, his odds for winning is 9.00 with Unibet. Cross won the same competition two years ago, defeating Phil Taylor in the final which was a result in itself. Cross has also been playing well this year, he was runner up in the UK open. He also reached the final of the Premier League, where he lost against van Gerwen. He won the 2019 World Matchplay and at the end of October the European Championship.

Another player with previous world championship wins is Gary Anderson, who managed to win it in 2015 and 2016. According to the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship betting odds, he is the third favorite to win again, with 13.00 odds. At the beginning of the year, Anderson was suffering from back pain and had to withdraw from the Masters and the Premier League. But in June he won the World Cup in the Scottish team with Peter Wright who is also a favorite.

Online gambling sites in the UK are also mentioning Wright in the favorites. The player with the best hairstyle and one of the coolest names, Snakebite has 15.00 odds. Another British player, Welshman Gerwyn Price has the same odds, 15.00. He is a former rugby player, who won his first Pro Tour title in 2016. He won the Grand Slam of Darts in 2018 in a controversial final with Gary Anderson, he was fined after for his behavior for £11,500. This year Price reached the semi-final of the UK Open and the final in the European Championship where he lost against Rob Cross.
