The UK has confirmed its participation at 65th Eurovision Song Contest along with Sweden, Norway, Cyprus, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece. Michael Rice’s successor is not revealed, but 2020 UK Eurovision betting predictions don’t look so reassuring.

The anniversary edition of the biggest European music contest will take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on May 2020. With no performer announced, online sportsbooks in the UK already place the British act to the bottom of the list. Does the country stand a chance at success following numerous failed performances?

No support, no success

With recent fallouts, it’s hard to believe that the UK once dominated in Eurovision with marvelously frothy pop hits. The country has entered the contest every year since 1959. Along with Sweden and the Netherlands, it is one of only three countries with Eurovision victories in four different decades.

To date, the UK has won the competition five times and has finished as runner-up on 15 occasions. However, the last winning act dates back to 1997 and experts express their doubts over future entries. At this point, Betway Sportsbook tipsters see the UK as the ultimate underdog for another year.

The reason behind appalling 2020 UK Eurovision betting predictions is the lack of national interest in the contest. The country holds a leading position in the worldwide music industry, yet the British audience ignores Eurovision. According to experts, the viewers and organizers need to adopt a serious approach to staging, songwriting, and promotion. Current dynamics hold no perspectives for upcoming years.

Internal selection to upset 2020 UK Eurovision betting predictions

Despite general complaints about the UK’s fall from grace, it still can succeed at the continent-wide singing contest. If the past three years have shown anything, it is that public votes don’t always guarantee a successful outcome for Britain. For that reason, the BBC has decided to stage some intervention.

According to online sportsbook news in the UK, the broadcaster will team up with BMG Music Company for a partnership. They will join the forces to find a song and artist to represent the UK. It’s a great opportunity since BMG has a publishing arm with many talented songwriters. The country is still predicted to get the wooden spoon with a 4.00 odds rate. Nevertheless, the bookmakers slashed the initial odds over internal selection news.

In all fairness, the “Big Five” countries are all regarded as longshots. Although Italy and France sometimes pull off good hits, they are still inconsistent. Germany hasn’t managed to deliver any impressive since Lena Meyer-Landrut’s victory in 2010. As per today, it’s the second contender to end up last next year (5.00).
