The penultimate FedEx Cup Playoffs event, the 2021 BMW Championship is held this weekend at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland. This is the first time that the Caves Valley Golf Club hosts a PGA Tour event. Even though the course has held other popular tournaments before. Like the US Senior Open or the LPGA International Crown in 2014. This year it will be the home of the second playoff event of the 2021 FedEx Cup, the BMW Championship. Where only the remaining 70 players will compete for the victory and for the chance to play in the 2021 Tour Championship. The cup is currently led by Tony Finau, followed by Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith. Rahm also leads the world ranking, making him a huge favorite at this tournament too. But former Championship winners like Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, or Rory McIlroy can also perform well.

The World No1 is Favored in the 2021 BMW Championship Odds

Jon Rahm has had a superb season so far after winning his first major tournament, the 2021 US Open, and taking the lead in the world rankings. The Spanish golfer also finished T3 in the Open Championship and third in the Northern Trust last weekend. Online sportsbooks in the US favor him to get the win now with the odds of +550.00. Rahm has already won this event last year, though it was held in a different course. But after being in such great form recently, he can easily get his 7th PGA Tour victory in Maryland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnv0yVPkDGg It might be slightly surprising that the player ranked second by the 2021 BMW Championship odds is Xander Schauffele. The fresh winner of the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was also tied for third in this year’s Masters Tournament. But the 27-year-old American hasn’t been so convincing in other events. He is only in 13th place in the FedEx Cup standings but he is fourth in the world rankings. Last week Schauffele finished T16. Now his odds to win the tournament are +1600.00. His compatriot, Justin Thomas can also do well in this course according to the bookmakers. The 2019 winner won The Players Championship this year and finished T4 last week. Which can be a promising result ahead of the second playoff event.

Golf Betting: Former Event Winners Can Also Get the Victory

Dustin Johnson missed the cut last week which was a disappointing result from last year’s FedEx Cup winner. But he can get a better finish now on one of his favorite events where he has already won twice before. World No2 hasn’t won any tournament since his Master's victory last November. His best results were two T8 finishes in the Genesis Invitational and the Open. Online gambling sites in the US still mention him in the top favorites and offer the odds of +2000.00 for his victory.

The 2021 Open winner, Collin Morikawa has the same odds to get his sixth PGA Tour to win in a memorable season. The 24-year-old got his second major win after last year’s PGA Championship, both on his debut appearance. He also won the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship and finished in a tie for fourth in the Olympics. Just like Rory McIlroy who won his first title in 2019 November in this year’s Wells Fargo Championship. The world No16 won this tournament back in 2012. This course might offer another chance of winning for him. McIlroy’s odds of getting the victory are +2500 on Intertops.
