At the end of the 2021 Bundesliga season, Schalke will be inevitably relegated. However, alongside Schalke, there will be another team or two to drop down to 2. Bundesliga. As for now, four sides are at risk to join Schalke. They are Hertha Berlin, Mainz, Koln, and Arminia Bielefeld. Thus, here is our analysis on which one leads the 2021 Bundesliga relegation odds and why.

Heading to the last eight games in Bundesliga, only 1 to 2 points separate four teams above Schalke. Two of them Koln and Arminia Bielefeld are in the relegation zone, while the other two Mainz and Hertha Berlin are one point in safety. This obviously indicates that all four teams are strong candidates to join Schalke at 2021 Bundesliga relegation odds.

It will be very exciting to see how everything will fold at the end. Most likely the battle for survival will go down to the wire. However, most online sportsbooks in Germany suggest Berlin and Mainz have a better chance to escape relegation. Whereas, Koln and Arminia Bielefeld are very close to joining Schalke in 2. Bundesliga.

Berlin to face bottom tabel teams

The capital club Hertha Berlin kicked off the 2021 season with high hopes after a positive summer transfer window. Soon later, the club began struggling, thus it had to change managers by the end of the first half. It re-appointed Pal Dardai last January as a rescue mission. However, he did not have much success yet, winning only twice over three months.

The team faces many problems. Mainly the defensive line is in crisis. So, it is hard to expect much from the team. However, the positive side is that all of their upcoming matches are against the teams at the bottom of the table except two. That will likely help Berlin escape relegation, despite that the odds are 7.00 at 32Red Sportsbook for the team to head to 2. Bundesliga.

Mainz have been steadily going upwards in recent months

Mainz have finished around 13th-14th place in each of the last three Bundesliga seasons. In the last season, they survived relegation with only 7 points above. Mainz were supposed to make some new signings in the summer. However, that did not happen and they kicked off their 2021 campaign in a tough situation.

Mainz had to sack two managers on the way and appoint recently the club legend Bo Svensson. What is more, they brought the Frankfurt duo Dominik Kohr and Danny Da Costa last January. And it looks like such changes have paid off. Mainz won five times and collected 18 points in the last three months. So, should they keep going upwards, they will most likely escape relegation. However, Mainz 2021 Bundesliga relegation odds remain 3.50, which indicates they are still under threat.

FC Koln have in a free fall recently

Koln has been one of the teams facing a free fall in recent months. As of Matchday 26, Koln are third bottom and only one point ahead of Arminia Bielefeld. Yet, they decided to stick to manager Markus Gisdol and keep the same system until the end of the season. Whether such strategy will pay off is unclear, but it remains to be seen how they will fare in the upcoming eight games. As 2021 Bundesliga relegation odds suggest Koln are the second favorite with a 3.00 value.

Bielefeld occupy the second automatic relegation place

The newly-promoted Arminia Bielefeld took a place at Germany’s top flight following the relegation of Dusseldorf and Paderborn. This is Bielefeld’s first season in Bundesliga since 2008. In the last 12 years, they competed in 3.Liga and 2.Bundesliga. Although it took Bielefeld a long time to reach the Bundesliga again their season has been daunting.

Like Hertha Berlin and Mainz, Bielefeld had to change managers. Their new manager Frank Kramer had tough games lately losing to Leipzig and Dortmund, but he had a shocking win over Leverkusen. Most of their upcoming eight games are tough ones. Thus, since they occupy the second automatic relegation place now, it seems realistic for Bielefeld to be favored with 1.90 to drop to 2. Bundesliga.
