  • 2021 EHF European League will continue with quarter-finals next week
  • There are three German teams in the last eight
  • Rhein-Neckar Lowen and SC Magdeburg are favored to win the tournament

Only 8 teams are left in the 2020-21 EHF European League who will meet in the quarter-finals next week. German teams dominate the tournament with Rhein-Neckar Lowen being the top favorite in the 2021 EHF European League winner odds. But Magdeburg, Fuchse or Montpellier can also go all the way and win the final in May.

The European League is the second-tier league of the European handball clubs. But we can still find some very strong teams in this tournament just like in the women’s version. Especially now when only eight teams are left in the competition who will meet in the quarter-finals next week. We can find three German teams in them, and one from Denmark, France, Poland, Sweden and Russia. Another German team, THW Kiel won the last season of the tournament and a German victory is very likely again. But first all teams need to win their quarter-final, where the Montpellier-Fuchse pair looks to be the tightest.

2021 EHF European League winner odds favor Lowen and Magdeburg

Online sportsbooks in Germany favor Rhein-Neckar Lowen to win the European League this season with the odds of 2.50. The team won their group confidently with 8 wins, 1 draw and only 1 loss. They also knocked out Croatian side RK Nexe in the last 16 but with a much tighter result. Now Martin Schwalb’s team will face another tough opponent, Russian side Chekhovskiye Medvedi next Tuesday. Swiss Andy Schmid scored six goals against Nexe while winger Jerry Tollbring also played a key part in the victory. With their similar performance the 2013 EHF Cup winner should take this hurdle as well.

Another German team, SC Magdeburg is mentioned next in the 2021 EHF European League winner odds with 3.10. The team has won several tournaments before from the German Bundesliga to the EHF Champions League. But in their last performance in the 2019 EHF Cup they only got to the third qualifying round. They have been doing much better this season after winning their group. The team also got through easily against Macedonian Eurofarm Pelister in the last 16 and will face Swedish IFK Kristianstand in the quarter-finals.

Fuchse Berlin vs Montpellier in the most exciting tie

The third German team, Fuchse Berlin is likely to have the toughest job in the quarter-final against Montpellier. The French team has won the Champions league twice before and they are 14-time French champions. This season they haven’t been that consistent and only finished third in their group. But in their last game against Swiss Kadetten Schauffhausen they produced a superb performance and won the second game away 32-25.

While Berlin had a much easier job against an Austrian side which couldn’t even play in the second leg. They’ve managed to win the EHF Cup tournament twice before, in 2015 and 2018, which makes them another favorite.  Now online gambling sites in Germany offer the odds of 6.50 for their victory and 7.00 for Montpellier. In the last pair of the quarter-finals Polish side Wisla Plock will play against Danish GOG Handbold. Both teams represent similar power but their final win of the tournament would be a huge surprise. Their odds to do so are 13.00 and 21.00 on bet365.
