  • Tadej Pogacar leads the general classification of the 2021 Tour de France
  • He can also win the polka dot jersey just like last year
  • Currently Nairo Quintana leads the mountain classification ahead of Woods and Poels
After the first week of the 2021 Tour de France, Nairo Quintana leads the mountains classification. But there are still plenty of tough stages ahead in the Alps and in the Pyrenees, so the order can still change. The 2021 TdF King of the Mountains odds also mention the overall leader, Tadej Pogacar and Canadian Michael Woods in the favorites. Let’s see their odds below.  In all Grand Tours the general classification race attracts the biggest attention. And the same is true about the Tour de France where all top riders fight for the yellow jersey. But it seems like this year nobody can beat last year’s champion, Tadej Pogacar, who leads the race after 9 stages. The young Slovenian can also win the polka dot jersey as he is one of the best climbers in the field. He has already won this jersey along with the yellow and white in 2020 ahead of Richard Carapaz and Primoz Roglic. This time Pogacar is likely to face other riders in this category like the two-time Tour de France runner-up Nairo Quintana. Who currently leads the mountain classification in the tournament.

2021 TdF King of the Mountains odds don’t rule out Pogacar from winning this jersey too

The first week of the 2021 Tour de France has been full of action and drama. From the accident caused by a fan to several other huge surprises. One of the biggest favorites, Primoz Roglic had to withdraw due to his fall. While top Ineos rider Geraint Thomas is out of the competition after his huge time deficit. 36-year-old Mark Cavendish seems to be in top form after winning two sprint stages already. But Tadej Pogacar is in the spotlight again. As the UAE Team Emirates rider is on his way to win his second Tour de France.

Winning the polka dot jersey might not be as important for him, but he is still mentioned in the favorites in the  2021 TdF King of the Mountains odds with the odds of 4.00. In spite of being only in 9th place at the moment in the mountain classification with 10 points. The current leader, Nairo Quintana has 50 points after his strong performances in the mountain stages. The Columbian is favored to win with the odds of 2.25 by online sportsbooks in France. He won this classification back in 2013 and his aim is to win it again. But Quintana won’t have an easy job to keep his jersey with some really tough climbs still ahead.

Woods, Poels and Higuita can all challenge for the polka dot jersey

Currently Michael Woods is in second place in the mountain classification, 8 points behind Quintana. The Canadian rider has been in great form all season and won the same category at the 2021 Tour de Suisse. The Israel Start-up rider got the first podium for his team last weekend when he finished third on the 8th stage. Woods will have more options to win a stage in the following days. And to earn some crucial points. His odds to win the polka dot jersey is 7.00.

Online gambling sites in France also mention Wout Poels with a chance of winning this classification. The Dutch rider held the jersey for one stage but he is still in third place. But the cyclist of Team Bahrain will need better performances like his last one.  On the 9th stage last Sunday he couldn’t keep up with Quintana and finished23 minutes behind the winner. Just like Sergio Higuita who finished 28th place on the previous stage. The Columbian usually does well in the mountains though and can still improve on his result. His odds to be the king of the mountains is 26.00 on bet365.
