One of the top European leagues, the 2022/23 Eredivisie will begin next Friday, on the 5th of August. 18 teams will fight for the Dutch championship title including the defending champions, Ajax, and last year’s runner-up, PSV Eindhoven. These teams are favored again in the 2022/23 Eredivisie winner odds but Feyenoord and AZ will also aim for the trophy.

This will be the 67th season of the top Dutch football league, the Eredivisie which will start on the 5th of August and is scheduled to finish on the 28th of May. 18 teams will compete for the championship title but only a few teams have a real chance of winning. Three teams have managed to become champions in the last 12 years. Ajax, PSV, and Feyenoord. Ajax Amsterdam are the most successful team in the league’s history with 36 wins.

Followed by PSV Eindhoven who won the trophy 24 times so far. They were close to winning last season after finishing only two points behind Ajax. But they can try again under the leadership of the new manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy. Feyenoord are the third most successful team with 15 wins, while AZ Alkmaar finished on top twice before.

Ajax Leads the 2022/23 Eredivisie Winner Odds Ahead of PSV

Last season AFC Ajax won the Dutch championship title for the third time in a row, though they finished only 2 points ahead of PSV. They will start the 2022/23 season with a new manager, Alfred Schreuder who worked at Twente, 1899 Hoffenheim, and Club Brugge before. He will replace Erik ten Haag who was appointed as the new Manchester United manager. The team also lost a few players in the summer. Like Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez and Ivory Coast striker Sebastien Halle who scored 34 goals last season.

But new players have also arrived at the club. Such as Dutch forward Steven Berwijn who joined from Tottenham Hotspurs for a Dutch record of €31,250,000. But RB Leipzig striker Brian Brobbey and Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey can also strengthen the squad. Ajax looks like the strongest club again with Dusan Tadic, Danny Blind, and Edson Alvarez also on the team. No surprise that online sportsbooks in the Netherlands offer the smallest odds, 1.65 for their victory in their 2022/23 Eredivisie winner odds.

Their main rival, PSV Eindhoven also appointed a new manager, the former top player Ruud van Nistelrooy to replace Roger Schmidt. The Manchester United legend has led the club’s U19 team and worked as an assistant at the Dutch national team before. But this will be his first job at a big club.

He can rely on most players from last season’s squad. Except for the German world cup winner Mario Gotze who returned back to Germany. New players like Luuk de Jong and Guus Til can give some extra options. PSV won the title last time in 2018, their odds to get the trophy now are 2.85.

Chances of Feyenoord and AZ

There wasn’t any change in the manager position at Feyenoord but several players left the club this summer. Their biggest loss is the departure of the top scorer Columbian Luis Sinisterra, who joined Leeds United. While Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia was signed by Manchester United. But Bryan Linssen, Guus Til, and Cyriel Dessers have also left the club.

Even though they reached the Europa Conference League final with the team. So head coach Arne Slot won’t have an easy job rebuilding his squad. But he can also use new players like Brazilian forward Danilo and Polish midfielder Sebastian Szymanski in that.

Feyenoord won the league in 2017 and finished third last season. Their odds to finish on top again are 11.00. The fourth team we have to mention as a potential future champion is AZ Alkmaar. Online gambling sites in the Netherlands offer the odds of 18.00 for their victory.

Even though they have only won the Eredivisie twice so far, in 1981 and 2009. Last season the club finished in 5th place but they are aiming for a better result now. AZ signed Belgian centre-back Zinho Vanheusden on loan from Inter. Along with Danish striker Jens Odgaard from Sassuolo. The team’s captain, Owen Wijndal has left the team though to join Ajax which can make manager Pascal Jansen’s job more difficult.
