The Singapore Grand Prix returns to the F1 schedule after a two-year break this weekend with a night race at the magnificent Marina Bay Street Circuit. Sebastian Vettel won the last race here in 2019, driving for Ferrari. Now Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. can try to get the same result. But the 2022 Singapore GP betting preview favors the championship leader Max Verstappen for the victory who can win his 6th race in a row.

This will be the 13th Formula 1 race at Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore with the sport returning to the country following a two-year absence. The first edition of the race in 2008 was also the inaugural night race and also the first street circuit in Asia. Thanks to the special conditions and difficult track, the safety car regularly features in the races. So winning here requires top-level concentration and driving skills which are all common characteristics of the previous winners. Like Sebastian Vettel who won the most times, on five occasions here. But Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and Nico Rosberg also managed to win this race before.

Verstappen Is the Top Favorite In the 2022 Singapore GP Betting Preview

Max Verstappen can easily join the list above and get his first win at this circuit this weekend. The Red Bull driver has been unstoppable this season, he has already won 11 races out of 16, and finished on the podium two more times. He leads the championship with a huge, 116-point lead ahead of Charles Leclerc. With another win, Verstappen can even secure his second Formula 1 title.

In order to do that, he would also need to get the extra point for having the fastest lap at the race. Plus Leclerc would need to finish eights and lower. And his Red Bull teammate, Perez would need to finish fourth or lower. It seems a bit too much to ask, so Dutch fans might need to wait one or two more races to celebrate their favorite as the 2022 F1 champion.  But a win for Verstappen is very likely in the 2022 Singapore GP betting preview. Online sportsbooks in the Netherlands offer the odds of 1.45 for his victory. It would be also his best result at this circuit, where he has already got two podium finishes in 2018 and 2019. Verstappen’s main rival, Charles Leclerc also has a good result from the previous Singapore GP. After finishing second here in 2019 behind his teammate at the time, Sebastian Vettel. The Monegasque had a few very unlucky races this year, but he finished on the podium in the last two events. His odds to get his fourth victory of the season are 5.30.

Perez, Sainz, and the rest of the field

Sergio Perez is currently in third place in the championship, only 9 points behind Leclerc. With a good result, the Mexican can even overtake the Ferrari driver and make it a 1-2 for Red Bull. Perez has one win in the season and six runner-up finishes. He only finished in 6th place in the previous race in Monza, but he could only start from 13th place following a 10-place penalty. Perez hasn’t had such great results in Singapore yet. But this will be the first time that he can race in a Red Bull at this track. Interestingly his odds to win the race are still quite high at 18.00.  Online gambling sites in the Netherlands mention the second Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz Jr. ahead of him. Along with both Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. They also have better chances of finishing on the podium according to bookmakers. That can be actually true if we only consider their most recent results. Russel finished third in the last race in Italy, and get closer to Perez in the overall standings. It was the young British driver’s 7th podium finish. While his teammate, Hamilton also stood on the podium six times so far. Their odds to do it again are 2.40 and 2.00. Meanwhile, Sainz might fight for victory this time and get the second win of his career. He has an odds of 11.00 to do so on 22Bet.
