This season’s women’s EHF Champions League continues with the playoff round where teams will fight for a place in the quarter-finals. CSM Bucuresti have automatically won their tie against CSKA Moscow, but we can still follow three games this weekend. The most exciting match is expected between Krim Mercator and FTC Cargo. Where the 2022 Women’s EHF Champions League playoffs predictions offer similar odds for both teams’ victory.

Following the 2021/22 Champions League season’s group stage, the first two teams from both groups have already qualified for the quarter-finals. These teams are Esjberg, Gyori Audi Eto, Vipers Kristiansand, and Rostov-Don. But the Russian team have been disqualified from the competition. No other team has taken their place though, meaning an automatic semi-final place for the winner of the second tie. First, though, teams finishing between 3rd and 6th places in the groups will compete for the remaining three places in the quarter-finals. Slovenian Krim Mercator will host Hungarian FTC Cargo on the first playoff match this Saturday, followed by the BV Borussia 09 Dortmund vs Metz Handball game. On Sunday Danish Odense will host the other French team, Brest Bretagne. While CSM Bucuresti have already won the tie against CSKA Moscow following the Russian team’s disqualification.

FTC are favored in the 2022 Women’s EHF Champions League playoffs predictions

The Hungarian champions, FTC Cargo finished third in their group, only two points behind second-place Rostov-Don. This means Gabor Elek’s team must play in the playoffs for a place in the quarter-finals. They will visit the home of Krim Mercator on Saturday, who finished sixth in the other group. FTC won the last seven meetings of the two teams and are favored to win again by online sportsbooks in Hungary. Even though Krim managed to sign a top-level right-back, Ana Gros. Along with Montenegrin line player Tatjana Brnovic. They joined the Slovenian club until the end of this season following their contracts suddenly ended with CSKA Moscow and Rostov-Don.

They can surely be a big assets for the team whose odds to win the first game are 2.23 in the 2022 Women’s EHF Champions League playoffs predictions. Krim became champions twice before, but haven’t reached similar results recently. Their opponents, FTC have never won the Champions League so far but finished twice as a runner-up. They have top players in the squad too like Emily Bolk, Angela Malestein. And Hungarian national team members, Blanka Biro, Zita Szucsankszki, and Szollosi-Zacsik Szandra.  The team is currently in second place in the domestic league and was only beaten by Gyori Audi Eto. Their odds to win the first game in Ljubljana too are 1.98 on 22Bet.

Metz and Odense Can Win in The Other Playoff Matches

Borussia Dortmund will host Metz on Saturday’s other game. The guests are the favorites to win the game with the odds of 1.31. The French team also finished third in their group with 9 wins, 1 draw, and 4 defeats. While the Germans only finished sixth in the other group with only four wins. The two teams were scheduled to meet in last season’s playoffs as well. But those games were not held following Dortmund’s concerns about traveling to France. Metz got through to the quarter-finals where they were beaten by another French club, Brest Bretagne.

Brest will also play in the playoffs this weekend, and visit the home of Danish side Odense Handbold. Online gambling sites in Hungary favor the home team to get the win with the odds of 1.91. But Brest’s chances are not bad either with the odds of 2.44. The Danish goalkeeper, Althea Reinhardt can be a key player for Odense after her great form in the group stage. While the runner-ups in last season’s Champions League will rely on players like Norwegian centre back Helene Fauske and French Pauletta Foppa. The winner of this tie will meet the five-time champions, Gyori Audi Eto in the quarter-finals. Making the route to the final four very tough for both teams.
