As of this year, the Stewards’ Cup has a new title sponsor - online gaming operator 32Red.

Of all the online sportsbooks in the UK, only one will have its name associated with Britain’s famous flat handicap horse race. One of the highlights of the UK horseracing meeting at Glorious Goodwood was the new deal closed with 32Red, to sponsor the Stewards’ Cup this year.

The six-furlong heritage handicap race will bear the name of the online and mobile casino operator and be known as 32Red Cup. The event offers winning jockeys a slice of a GBP 100,000 (EUR 125,514 or $171,384) prize fund.

The race is scheduled to take place on August 2, ending the 2014 edition of Glorious Goodwood.

New sports betting site to be launched

As part of the agreement, 32Red will extend its support to the opening race taking place on the final day, the 32Redsport Handicap over six furlongs. The event is for horses eliminated from the 32Red Cup and offers a GBP 40,000 prize fund.

“We are thrilled to be sponsoring the 32Red Cup at Glorious Goodwood, as well as the consolation race the 32RedSport Handicap, for those horses eliminated from the 32Red Cup,” said Matt Booth, the online operator’s commercial director.

The deal marks a double celebration for the online operator, because the Glorious Goodwood coincides with the launch of the company’s new sports betting site, 32Red Sport.
