American Pharoah’s Record Will Need More than the Triple Crown to Reach Greatness

American Pharoah’s Record will reveal more during racing’s second season.

American Pharoah made gambling news when he became the 12th horse to ever win the American Triple Crown, a combination of Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. The fact that American Pharoah is one of 12 winners makes him great enough. It’s even an added feat that there hasn’t been a Triple Crown winner since 1978. American Pharoah’s closing quarter mile time at the Belmont Stakes was faster than that of Secretariat, considered the greatest racing horse in the history of the sport.

● 12th horse to win the Triple Crown
● Triple Crown time 2nd to Secretariat
● Undefeated but for his first race

Such accolades have already sealed a place for this “super horse” when he retires at the end of October. His breeding rights have already been sold to a stud farm in Kentucky so his career will be completed successfully. It must be remembered that a Triple Crown winner must be three years old. That reduces the competition down by quite a bit. He is still worth the bet for those looking to gamble online. American Pharoah’s true greatness will lie in his complete legacy that will be left in the sport.

American Pharoah’s record is impressive, but we may not have seen his best

Secretariat is a legend that stood the challenge of time. Will AP do the same?

American Pharoah’s record will prove to all doubters once he has finished the second season. Although the first season focuses on the Triple Crown, the second includes a lot more championship opportunities. It has been proven that Triple Crown winners don’t always end up winning many races after. The Triple Crown winner is the obvious favorite for the Golden Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year.

Having won seven consecutive races, American Pharoah has already made many rich. It may be hard to wonder what other ambitions have been set for this thoroughbred. This virtually undefeated thoroughbred is the most popular horse America has witnessed in a long time. Appearing all over television from news stations to late night talk shows, people are emphatic over the champion.

Incredible as it may sound, we may not have seen the pinnacle of American Pharoah’s talent. Having won most of his races by five lengths on average, he might be a safe bet with racebooks and online sportsbooks in the US, but could there be more? Has this champion ever been pushed? The only race that was known to have stressed American Pharoah was in his debut race where he lost.

American Pharoah’s performance at the Belmont Stakes may have been one of the greatest in history. The champion outran everyone in the first quarter and then slowed down some. Only towards the end rider Victor Espinoza tapped him to pick up the pace. Unlike Secretariat and Affirmed, American Pharoah hasn’t a rival. Without a rival, there isn’t any way to properly tell us how fast the Triple Crown Winner can really go.

American Pharoah’s record compared with some greats from the past

Citation Triple Crown winner race horse

Citation, a Triple Crown winner, fathered a line of champions. The same awaits AP?

Veteran jockey Eddie Arcaro once spoke of Citation, considered one of the best thoroughbreds. “In all of Citation’s races, I never let him run. How fast could he have run? I don’t know.” Like American Pharoah, Citation was without a suitable challenger. Like other great race horses, it was the next season that set Citation apart. After the Triple Crown, Citation won nine more races. When he retired, Citation had 27 victories which included 15 consecutive wins.

War Admiral was force in the late 1930’s. Although he dominated the Triple Crown and ended his career with 21 out of 26 races, his most famous race was his loss to Seabiscuit.
American Pharoah has some critics wondering. Bought for USD 250,000 by Ahmed Zayat, American Pharoah stood out due to his amicable behavior around other horses. As he got older, the thoroughbred’s rather long strides made him stand out.

Apart from his debut, American Pharoah has never lost. When he was two, he won the Grade I Del Mar Futurity and FrontRunner Stakes. Although he missed the next race due to injury, American Pharoah still won the Eclipse Award for American Champion Two-Year-Old Male Horse. Since then, he has been a sure bet for many punters looking to make money through mobile betting.

Winning two races in 2015 at the Rebel Stakes and Arkansas Derby, American Pharoah proceeded to win the Kentucky Derby. After his Preakness Stakes victory, he won the Belmont stakes in spectacular fashion. American Pharoah then won at Monmouth Park. Just recently winning in Haskell Invitational on August 2, American Pharoah is currently the most celebrated horse in possibly over 25 years and has earned USD 5.6 million in his career.
