Another Illegal Sports Betting Ring Busted by Indian Police

Indian law enforcement agents break up a sizeable underground online gambling operation.

The operators of the uncovered illegal gambling portal were not only breaking Indian gambling laws, but were also allegedly “experts in hacking various foreign websites and even e-mail identities of their clients.”

Representatives of the Indian police force told India gambling news that six people are in custody over illegal online betting operations. The Special Investigation Team of Chandigarh police led by DSP (CID) Anil Joshi broke down the illegal cricket betting ring, which operated via a number of banned websites.

The Indian police state that the accused managed allow people to bet on sports in India via pirate IP addresses, which Indian filters failed to recognize as illegal. The illegal betting portals we so up-to-date that they even managed to bring the freshest possible info and updated themselves with every wicket, ball, and run rate of any given match.

The spokesman for the police commented: “Today the SIT has called in about 20 persons for verification and recording of statements. This was a close-knit network that had its roots in various parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.”

He went on to add: “Following interrogation, we have assembled evidence and will make more arrests. These bookies were running this racket from a website that is banned in India but legal in the UK. We were after this gang for the several weeks.”

The police acknowledged to have seized a considerable amount of cash, mobile phones, electronic equipment, SIM cards, and even an expensive SUV.
