William Carvalho may end up playing in the Premier League as Arsenal look to make a hectic last minute move for the talented defensive midfielder.

Online sportsbooks in the UK firmly believe that Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to sign Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho. The Gunners want to add another player before the transfer window shuts tonight, as they aim to fight for a top spot finish throughout the grueling Premier League campaign.

The 22-year-old would certainly add additional depth to their squad that already boasts the likes of Mesut Ozil, Calum Chambers and Alexis Sanchez. Carvalho would be tasked with keeping the defensive midfield area strong by being the link between the defenders and the attackers.

Sought out footballer

Previously, mobile betting firms linked the Portuguese youngster to several big clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea, however now the Emirates seems likely to be his next home. Currently his release clause stands at a whopping GBP 37.5 million, however Sporting has indicated that they would be willing to accept a lower fee for their aspiring star.

Adding Carvalho to their squad would surely benefit the Gunners, however some pundits have voiced concerns about the proposed move. Football experts believe that Arsenal should instead focus their efforts on capturing a striker, as they seem somewhat thin in that area with the main attacking threat Olivier Giroud out for 3 to 4 months due to injury.
