For starters, Baccarat means “zero” in old French/Italian dialects. This is because all the tens and face cards have a value of 0. The aim of the game in every round is to predict which side has the higher score, the player or the banker. The way the score is counted is by adding card values. If the score reaches ten or more only the last digit is counted. This means the highest possible score in Baccarat is nine.

If you are unsure about how to play the game, read more about it in our guide on how to play live Baccarat. You may also learn to master Baccarat, by getting to know some interesting strategies. Okay, let us now focus on the real deal by explaining the aim of Baccarat charts and how to read them.

The Aim of Baccarat Charts

Many players believe that they might have a better chance to predict the next outcome if they track the results of every previous round. That is why the Baccarat chart was created. It aims to detect patterns and trends which can indicate what likely score or result will come next. Thus, the player can adjust their bets accordingly. It does not change the odds but it makes playing Baccarat more fun.

You do not need to create a chart from scratch, rather at brick-and-mortar casinos, you get a sheet at the table to fill and track results. Whereas, at popular online casinos in Australia, such as King Billy Casino, the chart is automatically created and you only have to read it.

Do You Have to Keep a Baccarat Chart?

Not at all. Although casinos usually encourage keeping a chart, it is not a rule in the game. It is only to put more thought into your gameplay and to stay fully focused on the patterns of the game. However the game might look easy, it is not mindless, thus you have to study it.

Types of the Charts

There are several types of Baccarat charts or scoreboards. A game developer Taaniel Sulla has explained the mathematical models of 5 types of Baccarat scoreboards. They have distinct names including Bead Road, Big Road, Big Eye Boy, Small Road, and Cockroach Pig.

How to Read Baccarat Charts

The first thing to know is that they are read from top to bottom and left to right. Each type of the five charts has a slightly different approach to what things it actually tracks. Some signify winning cards, while others focus on chaos and predictability. Here is what you need to know about them. These will have the Baccarat charts explained to you.

  • Bead Road

This type simply shows you what hands have been played. So, it signifies raw data. It uses blue and red circles to mark down player and banker wins. It also uses green to show ties. The circles also show the exact score of a winning or a tie card. Let us say that a banker winning card is nine or eight every four rounds. That means you may predict a similar trend to go on for the rest of the game.

  • Big Road

Similar to Bead Road it also shows you what hands have been played. However, it is a more simplified version of Bead Road and it uses rings instead of circles to mark down player and banker wins. There are no scores shown. So, if you get used to Bead Road you may switch to Big Road for the sake of simplicity. – This is important to have the Baccarat charts explained.

  • Big Eye Boy, Small Road, and Cockroach Pig

These three charts are more sophisticated and aim to outlay trends, chaos, and predictability. They use the same colors of blue and red. However, the meaning here is different compared to Bead Road. Blue is about chaos and red is about predictability. The reason is to show symmetries between banker and player winning streaks. Also, they help you forecast the winners of future rounds, thus informing you of the best betting choices.
