There are more than 50 casinos over the country located in big cities, like Berlin and Hamburg. Or in smaller spa resorts with the German world of Bad (spa) in their names. Some of them go back a long history while others have been built in recent years. One thing is sure though, all of them can offer a wide variety of gambling games and great entertainment.

Best Casinos in Germany

1. Baden-Baden Casino

We can find one of the best casinos in Germany, the Baden-Baden Casino at the Kurhaus spa resort in south-western Germany, on the outskirts of the Black Forest. It is also the oldest casino in the country as it was established in 1824. It became famous in the 1830s when gambling was forbidden in France. Lots of famous people have been visiting the place ever since from Fyodor Dostoyevsky to Marlene Dietrich. But now even tourists can walk around thanks to the casino’s guided tours.  The casino itself is 204 square meters large and has 140 slot machines and 18 table games. There is a €5 entrance fee to enter the main casino, while slots start at €1. The interior of the building is really amazing so it’s definitely worth visiting but don’t forget to dress up properly.

2. Casino Berlin

A more modern but similarly popular casino is Casino Berlin (Spielbank Berlin) which was built in 1975 in Western Berlin. It moved to its current location at Potsdamer Platz in 1998 where we can find the main casino. But it also has three smaller venues at other locations including one at the TV tower. The casino has a huge, almost 11000 square meter gaming floor with 300 slot machines and 12 table games. And a separate poker floor with 8 tables. Though it is not as elegant as the one in Baden Baden, visitors still should wear smart casual clothes, long trousers, and closed footwear. But if you don’t want this hassle just choose to visit one of the best casino sites in Germany from the comfort of your home.

3. Casino Bad Wiessee

Next on our list of the best casinos in Germany, we have another casino in a spa resort, Casino Bad Wiessee. The original building was built in 1957 but it went through a renovation between 2003 and 2005. It’s the perfect choice if you want to stay in a relaxing area as it is located at Tegernsee, offering a magnificent view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Players can choose from over 200 slot machines and 13 table games. And play all kinds of gambling games from roulette to blackjack. Or even a special version of poker, the Bavarian Texas Hold’em where you only play against the bank and not against other players.

4. Casino Esplanade

Casino Esplanade is at the picturesque urban promenade in Hamburg, the second-largest city in Germany. It is another huge casino with a gaming floor of 2043 square meters. The elegant white palace has more than 135 slot machines and 13 table games across two floors. There are five live poker tables as well but you can also choose to play with video poker. But let’s get back to our land-based casino. Dress code in the 1978-built Casino Esplanade is quite relaxed as you can wear casual in the slots area. But a jacket for men and a dress or a blazer for women are required in the live gaming area. There is a €2 entrance fee for all guests while minimum stakes at the French and American Roulette are also €2. Regular poker stakes are at €200 but on Mondays, you can also play Ultimate Texas Hold’em games with no limits.

5. Spielbank Bad Homburg

Finally, we have to mention another historic place, the Spielbank Bad Homburg which was built in 1841 by the Blanc brothers. The resort town is located at the slopes of the Taunus mountains, in the Frankfurt Rhein-Mein area. Bad Homburg is one of the wealthiest towns in Germany, dating back to the 12th century. The casino can be found at the local spa covering 510 square meters and featuring 160 slot machines and 12 table games. Poker players can also choose from five poker tables and compete in No-Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, and Three Card Poker. But roulette, blackjack, and slots are also available. In addition, there are big parties at the Casino Lounge at the weekends with live music. Ensuring that no one will feel bored at the resort.
