Betfair the Latest Addition to Online Gambling Sites Leaving Poland

Betfair appears to be the latest addition to the list of online gambling sites leaving Poland after following rivals like Bet365 and William Hill.

In December of 2016, Poland’s legislature imposed new online gambling measures that block foreign sites not in possession of a Polish license. These new laws will be enacted on April 1st, and as a result, numerous internet gambling sites are leaving the country.

Major sites like Bet365 announced they were leaving last week, and now Betfair has become the most recent addition to online gambling sites leaving Poland. It’s not entirely surprising that these sites are leaving, as the Polish government made UK gambling news by announcing a 12% tax rate on sports betting turnover.

Members of Poland’s government have claimed they will revisit this tax percentage in the future, but for now it stands. Totalizator Sportowy now holds a monopoly over the Polish online gambling market.

Where is Betfair available now?

While Betfair Sportsbook is the most recent of online gambling sites leaving Poland, they are still available in most European nations. Today, Betfair is considered to be one of the premier online sportsbooks in the UK, offering betting odds on a wide range of different sports.

Betfair also offers one of the best online casinos available in the UK. Their live casino feature in particular has grown to become extremely popular amongst players.
