After a disastrous spell under David Moyes, Manchester United will hope to reclaim their former glory that they’re so used to.

The Red Devils have chosen Dutch mastermind Louis van Gaal to bring them out of the dark and fight for major titles once again. As soon as the official announcement was made of the appointment of the new manager, online sportsbooks in the UK responded by greatly boosting United’s chances of winning the Premier League.

Bet365 ranks United as third favorites for the title, by handing them odds of 5.50 (9/2). The actual likelihood of that happening is questionable, however if they manage to lure a few more players their way, things might work out in their favor.

Manchester United need more players in their squad

In efforts to avoid a repeat of last season when they finished 7th and missed out on a Champions League spot, the Red Devils have recruited some talented players. Left back Luke Shaw was transferred from Southampton for around GBP 28 million, while midfielder Ander Herrera was brought in from Athletic Bilbao for an estimated GBP 30 million.

If are to be true challengers for the title next season, then United must sign a few more big players. Should the transfer saga regarding midfielder Arturo Vidal finally be complete, then the Red Devils would boasts an impressive squad in midfield. Robin van Persie on the other hand has been earmarked by Bet365 to be top scorer with odds of 5.50 (9/2).
