Online sportsbooks in the UK offer a vast selection of betting odds

• Chelsea are seen as the favorites to win the title this year

• Newcomers are expected to struggle to stay in the top flight
Arsene Wenger and his team have ended a nine-year period without a single trophy by winning the FA Cup this May. The Gunners have signed Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, who will be a nice addition to already accustomed Mesut Ozil and a handful of forwards including Olivier Giroud. Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League since 2004, but commenced this season by grabbing the Community Shield and this might the year for Arsene Wenger to triumph once again.

The Gunners spent most of last season on top of the table, but in the end only managed a fourth place, which anyway gave them a chance for Champions League playoffs. Player to follow: Alexis Sanchez (forward).

Aston Villa

Aston Villa Aston Villa were left with very little money for summer transfers, as owner Randy Lerner is trying to sell the team. The squad also had a bit of backroom drama last season and only managed to place 15th barely avoiding relegation. Nonetheless, manager Paul Lambert is confident he has a promising team. Player to watch out: Christian Benteke (forward).

Burnley

Burnley Burnley have just returned to the Premier League after a five year absence. They’ve placed second in the Championship, but had a huge advantage over the third place. It will be interesting to see just how well the team will do in the top flight, where their game will mostly depend on strikers Sam Vokes and Danny Ings. Sean Dyche’s side is especially good at playing at home, expect lots of trouble for visiting teams there. Player to follow: Danny Ings (forward).

Chelsea

Chelsea The Blues were very close to winning the league last season, but Chelsea slipped up against some smaller teams and that has cost Jose Mourinho another success. But they are back with a vengeance and have been boosted by signing Diego Costa over from Atletico Madrid, Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, and even bringing back Didier Drogba. The Blues are currently the favorites to take the crown. Player to watch: Diego Costa (forward).

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace Tony Pulis managed to keep Crystal Palace in the top flight and got the manager of the year award primarily for this job well done. But the upcoming season will most likely provide a much tougher challenge, and the 11th place they grabbed last season will most probably seem like a high achievement. Player to follow: Mile Jedinak (midfielder).

Everton

Everton When Roberto Martinez succeed David Moyes at the front of the Toffees, no one expected Everton to do so well in the first season. But they’ve managed a fifth place and will now be playing in Europe too. Martinez managed to transform Romelu Lukaku’s loan from Chelsea into a full-blown permanent contract which costed them a club-record $47 million. The Toffees will now be looking to get back into the top 4. Player to watch out: Romelu Lukaku (forward).

Hull

Hull Hull survived relegation, despite arguments over the club’s name which naturally didn’t boost the players’ mood. Hull have also reached the FA Cup final, losing there to Arsenal, but still getting a ticket to Europa League playoffs. The new season will see them battle on two fronts, which will put additional pressure on players and the manager. Player to watch out for: Tom Huddlestone (midfielder).

Leicester

Leicester Leicester were promoted to the top flight after winning the Championship by a landslide. They haven’t been in the Premier League for a decade, and staying here will certainly provide quite understandable troubles. Much of the team’s success will depend on just how many goals can David Nugent score against the top flight teams. Player to look out for: David Nugent (forward).

Liverpool

Liverpool The Reds missed out on the title by a very tiny stretch last season. And despite losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona, Liverpool were quick to fill in the gaps with the money which came from the sale. Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, and Rickie Lambert all came from Southampton next to several other players. Brendan Rodgers’ men will be torn between the domestic league and the Champions League, but less controversy since Suarez’ departure should help them along. Player to watch out for: Daniel Sturridge (forward).

Manchester City

Manchester City The Citizens have edged Liverpool last season to win their second title in 3 years, but they took reinforcement of the squad with a cautious approach this summer. Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero are still there upfront, but Manuel Pellegrini is known to shake things up all the time. Manchester City will also be split between the Premier League and the Champions League matches. Player to watch out: Yaya Toure (midfielder).

Manchester United

Manchester United The Red Devils had a dismal season under David Moyes since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. But now it’s Louis Van Gaal up there, and things will surely turn for the better. The Dutch manager has just led the Netherlands to a third place at the World Cup, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be able to do the same for Manchester United. The team also signed a couple of new players including Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw. Player to watch: Wayne Rooney (forward).

Newcastle

Newcastle Newcastle managed a decent 10th place last season, and have signed several interesting players including Remy Cabella. If Alan Pardew will try and not head-butt any of the rivals this season, the Magpies should have no trouble finishing in the top half of the table after this season. Player to look out for: Hatem Ben Arfa (winger).

Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers QPR are back to Premier League after a year’s absence. They had to go through Wigan and Derby County in the Championship playoffs, and Harry Redknap’s expertise was enough to complete this task. Staying in the top flight, however, might be a more challenging job, but Rio Ferdinand’s signing might help with that. Player to watch: Rio Ferdinand (center back).

Southampton

Southampton Southampton had an up-and-down season, but managed an 8th place finish anyhow. But manager Mauricio Pochettino and a bunch of key players have moved on following the success. Ronald Koeman is now in charge and he’s brought in Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic to try and repeat last year’s achievement or even go a bit better. Player to watch out for: Jay Rodriguez (forward).

Stoke

Stoke Before last season many experts were expecting Stoke to struggle to stay alive in top flight. However, Mark Hughes managed a top half finish with 8th place. This season they have several highly-promising signings including Bojan Krkic, and will be looking to stay out of relegation trouble and repeat last season’s success. Player to watch out for: Peter Odemwingie (forward).

Sunderland

Sunderland Sunderland barely avoided relegation finishing 14th in the end. Naturally Gus Poyet will be looking to avoid drama this time around, but much will depend on Connor Wickham’s scoring abilities. More consistency should move the team closer to the upper half of the table. Player to look for: Connor Wickham (forward).

Swansea

Swansea Michael Laudrup was fired in the mid-season and replaced by Garry Monk, and it was a justified move as Swansea were able to pull out of relegation zone. The Swans have signed a couple of vital players including Lukasz Fabianski over from Arsenal, but the task of staying alive will be no easier this season. Player to look for: Ahley Williams (defender).

Tottenham

Tottenham Tottenham went through two managers last season, but settled for Mauricio Pochettino for the upcoming one. He’s widely expected to teach the Spurs the kind of offensive football he was exercising at Southampton last season. This time around Tottenham are going for the Champions League placement, but this season they might be stretched by Europa League obligations. Player to watch: Christian Eriksen (midfielder).

West Brom

West Brom West Brom have switched Pepe Mel for Alan Irvine after barely avoiding being relegated last season. The new manager got his first ever top flight managing job, and was quite a surprising choice to both fans and experts. It remains to be seen if he can deliver and keep the team in the top flight for another season. Player to watch: Stephane Sessegnon (forward).

West Ham

West Ham Sam Allardyce was given another chance this season, but he has to make sure last season’s problems are gone. Teddy Sheringham joined the management staff to try and help with transforming home ties into wins. West Ham fans were largely dissatisfied with the mid-table finish, but Enner Valencia’s signing might help turn the tables. Unfortunately Andy Carroll is ruled out again due to injury. Player to watch for: Enner Valencia (forward).
