Let’s take a look at some of Conor McGregor’s possible future fights, and the betting odds that PaddyPower has set for each one.

Conor McGregor last fought in the Octagon in November of 2016, but in some ways it feels much longer. MMA fans had gotten accustomed to seeing the sport’s biggest star fighting every few months, and speculation is now rampant about who he’ll take on in his return. Let’s look at a few possibilities.

Bet on Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather

Possible Matches for McGregor
  • Floyd Mayweather
  • Khabib Nurmagomedov
  • Tyron Woodley
The first time a potential bout between McGregor and Mayweather came up was back in July of 2015 during the lead up to the interim fight between Conor and Chad Mendes. While asked about a fight with boxing’s pound for pound great on Conan, McGregor stated “If you’re asking would I like to fight Floyd, I mean, who would not like to dance around the ring for $180 million?”

This was seen as nothing more than talk at that time. Conor still had a number of matches in MMA to take before a fight with Floyd would even make sense. Fast forward to March 2017, and this fight is now looking more likely than ever.

Even UFC President Dana White seems to be getting on board, famously offering both McGregor and Floyd a $25 million offer to fight. Mayweather laughed off that offer, but it sent a message that the UFC would be willing to put the fight on. Recent pictures of Anderson Silva and Roy Jones Jr. are now popping up the media, which some are speculating could serve as a co-main event for the show.

Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but of all Conor McGregor’s possible future fights, this one may be the most likely. PaddyPower has already set the odds for the bout. Unsurprisingly, Floyd Mayweather is a massive betting favorite to win with odds of 1/10. Conor’s odds to make Irish gambling news by defeating one of the best boxers of all time are set at 6/1.

Bet on McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov

Had the UFC 209 fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson gone down, and had Nurmagomedov won said fight, a bout between Conor and him would have seemed inevitable. Unfortunately, Khabib had trouble with his weight cut and his bout against Ferguson was scrapped.

The lightweight title picture is now murky to say the least, and it’s anyone’s guess who will get the next shot at Conor’s belt. If the stars align, Khabib could still be one of Conor McGregor’s possible future fights. A Russia vs. Ireland battle would likely be the biggest fight below 170 pounds.

This is also one of the most appealing fights stylistically wise. The one chink in Conor’s armor appears to be wrestling, and Khabib is considered one of the best wrestlers in the entire sport. At the moment, the McGregor-Nurmagomedov betting odds are dead even at 9/10 for each fighter.

Bet on Conor McGregor vs. Tyron Woodley

Of all Conor McGregor’s possible future fights, this one seems the most unlikely. Why? It just doesn’t seem to make sense. Conor has already made history by holding two belts simultaneously, but was famously stripped of his featherweight just days after winning the 155 pound belt. If he attempts to move to 170 pounds to take the belt from Woodley, would he be willing to give up the belt at lightweight?

Truth be told, Conor McGregor has the skills to beat anyone, and a fight between him and Woodley would generate massive interest, but it simply doesn’t make sense business-wise. There are enough money fights for him at his own weight class. Nonetheless, PaddyPower has set the betting odds for the fight. Woodley is the slight betting favorite with odds of 4/6. McGregor would be the much smaller man in the cage, and is a betting underdog with odds of 6/5.
