The circuit at the Michel Vautrot complex is one of the most difficult ones. it will make its debut in the Cyclo-cross World Cup this year. It will host the eighth stage of the season which will run until the end of next January. At the moment in the men’s race, Belgian Eli Iserbyt leads ahead of his compatriots and Dutch Lars van der Haar. The sport is extremely popular in both countries. So no wonder that cyclists from these countries have been dominating in the last few years. The women’s race is even more one-sided with only one Hungarian and one American cyclist in the top 10 besides the Dutch riders. But between them, we should expect another good fight this weekend.

Cyclo-cross World Cup Besancon Odds For the Men’s Race

Online sportsbooks in France offer the smallest odds, 1.616 for the victory of the current championship leader, Ely Iserbyt. The Belgian rider has won four races already this season and finished on the podium on the other three occasions. The 24-year-old is in the best form of his career and is the biggest favorite to win the World Cup. In the middle of the season, he is leading 69 points ahead of the current second Toon Aerts. Iserbyt’s performance is not surprising though after his previous results in the junior and U-23 categories. Where he won the gold medal in the World Championship both in 2016 and 2018.

The Belgian can follow the steps of the brilliant Wout van Aert who won the World Cup last season. In the absence of Dutch Lars van der Haar another Belgian, Toon Aerts can be the biggest rival of Iserbyt this weekend. Aerts is second in the overall standings but only one point ahead of Van der Haar and another Belgian, Quinten Hermans.  But the two-time overall World Cup winner can increase his lead now with a good result. His odds to win the second race of the season are 3.74 in the Cyclo-cross World Cup Besancon odds. Michael Vanthourenhout hasn’t won any race in the new season yet, but he got the bronze medal in the 2021 European Championship. He has the odds of 6.50  for the victory in Besancon.

Brand is The Favorite in The Women’s Race

The winner of the 2020/21 World Cup, Dutch Lucinda Brand has won two races in this season yet. But the defending World and European champion also finished on the podium four more times. She is leading the overall standings 14 points ahead of her compatriot, Denise Betsema. Dutch women cyclo-cross cyclists are really on a different level as we can find eight of them in the top 10. No wonder that online gambling sites in France mention them as top favorites. Brand has the smallest odds, 1.725 to win the race on Sunday. Followed by Betsema and Annemarie Worst, both having the odds of 5.00 for a victory.

The bronze medalist of the 2020/21 World Championship, Betsema has won one race in the season. She was also in the top three on four more races. Great results from the 28-year-old cyclist who finished third in last year’s World Cup. While a former U-23 world champion, Worst won the last race in Koksijde, in Belgium last weekend. She is in fifth place in the overall standings. But she could be more ahead without missing two events of the season.  We also have to mention one of the youngest riders of the field, 19-year-old Puck Pieterse who is currently in third place. Even though she hasn’t won any race yet, she finished as a runner-up in two weekends. Now her odds to win her first World Cup race is 8.00 on 22Bet.
