  • Denmark’s Eurovision betting odds show Leonora’s an underdog at the song contest
  • We believe she could still make it in the top 10
Danish voters are going to send Leonora to Israel to represent their country at the Eurovision song contest. However, if we take a look at Denmark's Eurovision betting odds it’s clear that they’re underdogs at this tournament. In this article, we’ve summarized everything you need to know about Denmark’s chances at the competition. Danish people are going to send Leonora to Israel to represent their country at the Eurovision song contest. The 20-year-old singer managed to win the Danish Melodi Grand Prix, which meant she successfully qualified for the big stage. However, online sportsbook sites in Denmark argue that Leonora is actually not that popular outside the country. Unibet Sportsbook believes that the former ice-skater is going to finish 11th or even worse. These are obviously tragic numbers for a girl who’s so popular at home. Therefore, we’ve decided to take a closer look at Denmark’s Eurovision betting odds, to see how realistic they could be.

Top 5 15.00
6-10th 4.50
11th or worse 1.14

Denmark’s Eurovision betting odds show they don’t really have a chance to win

Leonora Colmor Jepsen is a 20-year-old Danish singer. Until this point she was known for her brilliant ice-skating abilities instead of her musical talent. While she was mostly performing in small cafes and school events, she was more successful in the winter sport. Leonora competed at the ISU World Junior Championships and the ISU JGP Riga Cup 2015 as well. Then “Love Is Forever” changed everything.

Former Eurovision winner, Emmelie de Forest
Her Eurovision song is actually her first ever single that was released. She wrote it together with three professionals (Lise Cabble, Melanie Wehbe and Emil Lei). It combines four languages, English, Danish, German and French. That already makes it quite international, no wonder it was written specifically for the song contest. As we wrote earlier, her single has everything a Eurovision-song needs: cute tunes, singing about love, getting political, but not too political. Her lyrics are relatable and simple (“a taste of love is all we got, so don’t you never ever give up love”) - maybe too simple. It we look at Denmark’s Eurovision betting odds it’s easy to that see Leonora is not expected to perform well. Unibet Sportsbook believes she has close to no chance to get in the top 5, and a top 10 position would be also quite surprising. That’s interesting, because in the last 10 years Denmark always reached a top 10 place on the final table. Also, in 2013 they managed to win the competition. Their nominated singer at the time was Emmelie de Forest. She's actually very similar to Leonora when it comes to their musical performance.

Denmark's Eurovision betting odds vs. other Northern countries

Denmark to finish higher than Sweden 8.00
Denmark to finish higher than Norway 3.50
Sweden to finish higher than Denmark 1.04
Norway to finish higher than Denmark 1.25

Denmark’s Eurovision betting odds: other Northern countries have better chances

Based on Denmark’s Eurovision betting odds we can clearly see that they’re underdogs to Sweden and Norway as well. These two countries have much better chances to finish higher in the final table. It’s only Darude from Finland who’s expected to reach a worse position than Leonora. However, we just can’t see why Unibet Sportsbook made all these dark predictions about the former ice-skater. Denmark historically performs well at Eurovisions, they’ve got a decent, multi-language song with a good performer. Therefore, we believe that a bet on Leonora to reach one of the top 10 positions at Eurovision doesn’t sound ridiculous at all. Looking at her odds, it could actually be profitable to put a small amount of money on her to finish 10th or higher. You can win a decent amount of cash if she proves bookies wrong, that’s for sure.
