The RTE Choice Music Prize album of the year is about to be revealed on March 05. There is a ten-strong shortlist, with many nominees competing as the favorites. It is hard to separate most of them, but ‘Dogrel’ by Fontaines D.C holds the best 2020 Choice Music Prize winner odds.

The announcement of Choice Music Prize winner has become the music industry highlight of the year since its inception in 2005. It celebrates the best in Irish recorded music. The winner is either a band or solo musician who resides in the Republic of Ireland and/or Northern Ireland. This year the winner will be announced at the RTE Choice Music Prize live event on March 5 in Dublin’s Vicar Street.

A panel of eleven judges of Irish music media professionals and industry experts is responsible for choosing the winner. The prize is €10,000. After disappearing of the map for two years, the Irish punk quartet Girl Band is back. It is a complete surprise to the fans, as nobody thought there will be a second album to the band. ‘The Talkies’ is their first new album in four years. It is the follow-up of their groundbreaking 2015 debut ‘Holding Hands with Jamie’. ‘The Talkies’ was released in September 2019, capturing the darkness and intensity of the band’s health struggles. The odds for ‘The Talkies’ to win the album of the year are 6, and the album has a very good chance.
