It should be a relatively straightforward matter for the Democrats to beat Donald Trump in the November election. It’s a shame then they’ve already managed to sabotage themselves. Their performance in Iowa was nothing short of embarrassing. Does this make Trump the only sensible bet on the 2020 US Presidential Election? The odds at online sportsbook sites like Bovada suggest it is. However, it’s a long way to November and, as we’ve seen so recently, anything can happen.

We did nothing wrong.” Said Donald Trump on his acquittal by the Republican dominated US Senate. Addressing an East Room full of supporters he said: “It’s called ‘total acquittal’.”  Which, of course, it isn’t. The Republican Party in the Senate might have declared him innocent, but very few independent observers share their conviction. The Democrats certainly don’t. They should be a no-brainer bet on the 2020 US Presidential Election. After Iowa, you’d need to be brainless to back them.

Iowa Caucus Results

  • Klobuchar – 12.3%
  • Biden – 15.8%
  • Warren – 18.0%
  • Sanders – 26.1%
  • Buttigieg – 26.2%

Iowa made the Democrats look Mickey Mouse at best. Days after the vote, the results arrived piece-meal. The “Corn State” had let them down. What should have been a great launch of the Democratic campaign was a disaster. Backing the Democrats in a bet on the US presidential election now possibly just wasteful. Anyone in the US gambling laws of politics past will see them bounce back should think again. This is the new politics, where there’s no time for that.

Trump Rallies As Democrats Fail At First Hurdle

Pete Buttigieg came out of Iowa on top. This instantly led most supporters of rival Bernie Sanders to start screaming about a fix. Many younger Democrats believe the party stole the nomination from Sanders last time round. They see this as the same thing happening again. A conspiracy to keep radical change in check. You can bet on the 2020 US presidential election to ring with this sort of thing. Instead of the Republicans, the Democrats are at war with themselves.

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have already had harsh words with each other. The tussle over control of the left-wing of US politics getting heated. So both accuse the other of being unelectable. They’re probably both right. Not that they need to worry. They’re not alone. I wouldn’t bet on Joe Biden either right now. He only managed 4th in Iowa. So, not an attractive bet on the 2020 US Presidential Election for those who like to bet on sports in the US then. But who is?

Bet On The 2020 US Presidential Election At Bovada

Well, you’d think after his win in Iowa Pete Buttigieg would be sitting pretty. He’s young, energetic, well-spoken and intelligent. If there were someone out there to take on Trump, Pete could well be that guy. Unfortunately, Pete Buttigieg is gay. In a nation with vast swathes of religious minded folk, this is an issue. In a straightforward popular vote, it wouldn’t matter. He’d be a great bet on the 2020 US Presidential Election. But with the Electoral College involved? No.

2020 US Presidential Election Odds at Bovada

  • Elizabeth Warren – 33/1
  • Pete Buttigieg – 11/1
  • Joe Biden – 11/1
  • Michael Bloomberg – 15/2
  • Bernie Sanders – 9/2
  • Donald Trump – 8/13

So if you’re going to bet on the 2020 US Presidential Election, back Trump. Ignore the odds on Bernie Sanders and don’t bet on Elizabeth Warren. Online betting sites in the US like Bovada will give you 11/1 on Biden, that’s the same as they give Buttigieg despite his win. So neither really has a shot at the White House. You could always bet on US politics being bitter. But with Democrats all at sea, and Trump re-writing the political rulebook, this is going to get nasty.

We take a look at why a bet on the 2020 US Presidential Election really has to be on Donald Trump winning reelection.
