The French have received arguably the easiest group of the World Cup, but it doesn’t mean that betting on it will not be exciting.

Group E consists of France, Switzerland, Ecuador, and Honduras. Many experts and punters under French gambling laws are agreeing that this particular group is the easiest of them all. Les Blues managed to squeeze past Ukraine in the qualifications playoff and now are the favorites to dominate the group.

World Cup betting Group E

The odds at online sportsbooks in France for Didier Deschamps’s men to qualify from the group are equal to 1.20, and to win the group not that much different at 1.66. Switzerland are understandably second in line to win the group with 3.75 odds, while Ecuador got 5.00 odds, and Honduras a very long line of 34.00.

Betting on Group E at World Cup

• European teams will dominate this group

• Many online sportsbooks in France are already accepting bets
• Switzerland and France to qualify is a smart wager

Contrary to France, Switzerland topped their qualification group, albeit a much easier one than the French. Their chances of going to the last 16 from any position in the group are also high with 1.57 odds. Switzerland and France making it together will deliver a 2.15 payout at BetVictor, which is a pretty smart bet to make.

Other combinations include Ecuador and France – paying at 2.62, and of course Switzerland and Ecuador without France, paying at 7.50. France and Honduras going to the last 16 is highly unlikely and pays at 13.00. Switzerland and Honduras as group winners will deliver a 34.00 payout, while Ecuador and Honduras – even higher at 41.00.

Ecuador have always been a dark horse of big tournaments, but their recent form is far from ideal. With just two wins out of 12 last fixtures, the 6.00 odds on them finishing bottom of Group E seems like a highly attractive wager to make for those who bet on sports in France. However, everyone expects Honduras to end up at the bottom with 1.28 odds.

Honduras got 8.00 odds to qualify from any spot, but even during qualifying the team relied heavily on home games which will of course not be the case when they come to Brazil. Ecuador are also renowned for paying well at home, and it’s unreasonable to expect them to do well on grounds below 9,000 meters above sea level. This leaves Group E to be dominated by the two European teams.

The difference in strength between the teams makes group forecast odds for Group E a very interesting selection for a smart bettor. France 1st and Switzerland 2nd pays at 3.50, while France 1st and Ecuador 2nd delivers a 4.00 payout. Switzerland top and France second pays a little higher – at 5.50.

Ecuador going top and the French taking the second spot comes with 8.00 odds, while Ecuador 1st and Switzerland 2nd or the reversed result – with 15.00 odds. Outcomes involving Honduras are especially rewarding with France topping the group and Honduras going second paying at 17.00, but either Switzerland or Ecuador 1st and Honduras 2nd – at whopping 67.00 odds.

The same odds are given for the event when Honduras wins the group and France goes 2nd. Honduras top and Switzerland 2nd delivers an 81.00 odds payout at the bookies, and the most rewarding bet for Group E is when Honduras wins the group and Ecuador go through as second – 151.00 odds.

Despite the difference in class between the European teams in Group E and the American ones, the group is not expected to produce a lot of goals. This is partially due to the fact that the teams failed to reveal their true goal-scoring potential during qualification matches. The price for Group E to become World Cup’s top scoring one is 8.00 at the bookies.
