Fantasy Sports Service Available Now on Yahoo Sports

The internet giant introduces daily fantasy games for the four most popular sports in the United States

Yahoo has launched yesterday the daily fantasy sports (DFS) service on their home page which the giant in the internet industry announced in the beginning of April, online gambling sites in US report. The introduction of this innovation is expected by Yahoo to convert into a source of income the sport audience they dispose with by transferring them into the dimension of daily fantasy sports.

In the beginning Yahoo will focus only on the games in the Major Baseball League but is planning to broaden its offer starting from autumn with games from the National football league. They also expect to add further games from the National Hockey league and the National basketball Association. The aim of Yahoo is soon to become a leading platform for DFS concerning these four most popular sports in the US.

Can the DFC cause problems for Yahoo?

According to Kenneth Fuchs, Yahoo VP of publisher products, the promotion of DFS will not open any legal issues for Yahoo since they consider DSF to be in essence games of skills, and not a gambling game. Players who are not gambling can put a deposit of up to USD 600 on their Yahoo account via Pay Pal and a technology will be used that will not accept deposits from states such as Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana and Washington, where DFS are legally prohibited.

In the past year Yahoo Sports announced that they have more than 98 million users on a monthly level, gambling news report. In Yahoo are eager to see how the DFS offer will influence the possible increase of the number of their audience. They are also looking forward in Yahoo to see how these new offer of theirs will transform the market concerning that they are now entering into competition with frontrunners in the field such as FanDuel and DraftKings.
