Fernando Alonso Career Highlights in F1: Career Start

Fernando Alonso made his Formula 1 debut with Minardi in 2001. Though he drove the slowest car on the grid, he impressed Benetton's principal Flavio Briatore who offered him a test driver seat in his new team Renault for 2002. However, despite a good start to the season, his time at McLaren was marked by internal team issues, particularly with his teammate Lewis Hamilton and team principal Ron Dennis. Both Alonso and Hamilton missed the title by one point. Missed Opportunities with Ferrari

In 2010, Alonso became a Scuderia Ferrari driver, where he spent five seasons until 2014. Despite being consistently competitive in every season for the Maranello-based team, he narrowly missed winning the championship on two occasions. In 2010, he lost the title due to the team's error and so did the in 2012. The latter to this day is one of the best examples of a terrible car chasing the title to the last race. At the end of 2014, after several years of unfruitful title challenge, Alonso left the team.

After leaving Ferrari, Alonso rejoined McLaren in 2015.
