Four movies are leading the Oscars 2020 Best Picture betting odds. However, all of them are yet to arrive in theaters in the next few months. Predicting the winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture is never easy. Last February, most online sportsbook sites in France predicted the prize will go to “Roma”. Yet, it was Peter Farrelly’s “Green Book” that won. The next Oscars in 2020 has already top four competing movies. Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scoresese, Armando Iannucci, and John Crowley are the directors. However, star-names cannot always ensure a victory. So, here are the top four movies and their Oscars 2020 Best Picture betting odds.

Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” leads the race

Quentin Tarantino's ninth film is on top of the Oscars 2020 Best Picture betting odds, with 5.00 at Bwin Sports. Oscar winners  Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and 2018 Oscars nominee for Best Actress Magot Robbie are starring in it. The movie visits 1969 Los Angeles in the era of Charles Manson murders where everything is changing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELeMaP8EPAA The film has premiered at the Cannes film festival in May, but it did not win any prizes. However, it will likely play well inside Hollywood similarly as the other show-business Oscar-winners, “All About Eve”, “The Artist” and “Birdman”. The movie will come out in August 15, with hopes to win the Oscars. Interestingly, the director Tarantino won two Oscars already for Best Original Screenplay for “Pulp Fiction” and “Django Unchained”.

“The Personal History of David Copperfield” will open BFI Festival

Online sportsbook news in France have reported that “The Personal History of David Copperfield” will open BFI London Film Festival on October 02. Thus, the film director is the multi-award-winner Armando Iannucci. The movie makes a fresh take on the classic novel by Charles Dickens, and it stars Dev Patel, the Slumdog Millionaire and Lion actor. Reviews will probably come out after the BFI festival. Until then “The Personal History of David Copperfield” is one of Oscars top contenders, with 7.00 odds to win the Best Picture.

Oscars 2020 Best Picture betting predictions go for “The Irishman”

Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” is expected to be Netflix’s biggest challenger in the 2020 Oscar ceremony. All mafia veterans including Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Harvey Keitel will be starring in the film. Their story revolves around a gangster in New York. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfr44G1KJmc After Netflix’s near miss of winning Best Picture for “Roma” last time, it seems the streaming service is coming back strong in hopes of winning that trophy. Vanity Fair has reported “The Irishman” cost Netflix more than $125 million. It seems the film is designed to earn the streaming service its first-ever Best Picture trophy with 8.00 odds. Yet, “Roma” presumably lost the contest against “Green Book”, due to Hollywood’s protest of Netflix internet-first distribution model. Whether that will also preclude “The Irishman” from winning the Best Picture remains to be seen.

“The Goldfinch” is based on Pulitzer-winning novel

“The Goldfinch” film based on Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer-winning novel, will be released on September 13. The film stars Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman, and Sarah Pulson. Brooklyn filmmaker John Crowley is the director. According to the latest trailer, the film has an atmospheric music, lots of emotions, and a dramatic scene in a museum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcG06hZooHM The story focuses on Theo Decker who reconnects with the Goldfinch painting after surviving a bombing that killed his mother. It is unclear yet why this particular movie is well rated with 9.00 odds to win the Best Picture at Bwin Sports.
