Reports have officially come out that the much talked about Ladbrokes-GVC merger has failed to materialize.

After days of discussion, it appears that Ladbrokes and GVC have failed to come to an agreement over a merger, according to the Financial Times. The paper reported that the talks of a merger first came up last week, with an initial deal valuing Ladbrokes at £3.2 billion.

It was reported that GVC hoped to structure the merger similar to the deal they made with bwin.party last year, which was formed almost exclusively with stock shares. The UK gambling news of a Ladbrokes-GVC merger initially boosted both companies stocks, but negotiations fell apart after Ladbrokes stock price dropped by 5.2%.

It remains to be seen now whether the two companies can resume talk of a merger sometime in the future, but for now it seems like they will continue to run on their own.
