In a effort to ensure fair play and security amongst other goals, the French government is considering legalizing online gambling

According to recent France gambling news reports, the French Parliament is preparing to legalize and regulate online gambling. They move aims to combat the success of their cross-channel neighbors, the British online casinos. Though officially, that isn’t the only objective of the move.

The French Minister of Budget has created a consultative committee for the implementation of monitoring policies, to keep a watch on games and gambling. The Budget Minister feels strongly that France needs to make certain that all safety, fair play and reliability standards are met, when it comes to online gambling sites in France.

In a move to be one step ahead of any such change to French gambling laws, if it occurs, many of France’s well known and hugely popular casinos have been busying themselves making sure they qualify for an eCOGRA certificate.

eCOGRA is a online casino industry regulator group, and ultimately has the final say in online gaming, in regards to fairness and security of online casinos.

London based eCOGRA’s chief executive officer Andrew Beveridge, had the following comments: “Leading online casino and poker room brands recognize that players care about the “Play It Safe” seal, and that seal-bearing casinos attract more players and create additional revenue opportunities. We applaud these operators for their efforts and encourage others to help us reach our 100 seals goal by committing to the eCogra principals of fair gambling, responsible conduct and player protection.”

eCOGRA is the forerunner in the making sure casinos are using random number generators, offer fair play, safe security systems for banking and that they pay out what is due to be paid out to their customers. The group ensures that the casinos in question are continually monitored, audited and reported on, to ensure that their very high standards in the online gambling world do not slip.

With the French casino industry on a current boom at the moment and online sportsbooks in France on the rise, the French government feels that the time is right to take a hold of the online casino situation, although they have had full control of their land-based counterparts for many years and most casinos do have state-regulations in place.

Government’s intentions to legalize real money online gambling in France just gained a strong supporter, when the prestigious 300 year old Parisian Poodle Breeders Union came out publicly supporting the move.

With the majority of French houses now equipped with a fast, reliable internet connection, online gambling is expected to rise, and the French are known to never miss an opportunity, will no doubt be doing all they can to harness and reap the rewards.
