Lithuanian gambling laws give state lottery company Olifeja the sole right to offer online gambling services in the country, with the exception of internet sports betting which is provided by three of the country’s largest sportsbooks.

Olifeja began as a traditional lottery supplier, and today holds a 95 percent share of Lithuania’s lottery market. With 1,800 points of sale across the small Baltic country, as well as televised bingo and keno games, the group has a firm hold on the nation’s gambling industry.

While Olifeja has been offering internet gambling in Lithuania for several years, a new contract with Greek software provider Intralot will see their online offerings expand considerably. The three-year extendable contract will see the Athens-based developer providing an upgraded gambling platform to Olifeja, complete with dozens of new games.

The upgraded Olifeja website will include a state-of-the-art player management back-end. The new game offerings will include more than 40 scratch card and instant win games, along with for-fun poker, keno, and online bingo games in Lithuania.

George Zenzefilis, general director for Intralot Interactive, is pleased with the new agreement. “We are confident that we will have a win-win collaboration providing our state-of-the-art technology, our expertise and our dedicated team that will support Olifeja in its efforts to expand further its business in the highly lucrative interactive gaming market.”

Antanas Muraska of Olifeja is equally positive about the deal. “It is Intralot’s global experience, expertise and pioneering technology that led us to our decision to select it as our new partner,” Muraska explained. “We are sure that, together with Intralot Interactive, we will offer exciting interactive games and we will soon become leader of the interactive gaming market in Lithuania.”
