Red Bull may have the faster car, but Mercedes have the better driver. You can bet on Lewis Hamilton continually hinting at this for the rest of the year. However, after their win in the first race of the year, Mercedes know they have a fight on their hands. The Bahrain GP far was closer than many had predicted. So, now over on Bet365 and other online betting sites in Italy, Max Verstappen gets parity in the F1 odds. But just how long will this apparent equality really last?
“There are always opportunities to prove people wrong.” You can always bet on Lewis Hamilton to radiate smugness when he wins. Of course, those looking at the odds on the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix might point out, he hasn’t. Sure, he won the first race of the year but the odds on Red Bull rather underline just how close it came. That bet on Max Verstappen will get you precisely the same price as one on Lewis. So does this mean we’re set to see a close season of racing?
Well possibly. Those who regularly bet on sports in Italy, and F1 in particular will hesitate from counting their chickens just yet, It looks promising. At least it does if you’re a fan of Mercedes or Red Bull. Those Ferrari fans tuning in may find it a touch less pleasant. You can bet on Ferrari hiding their blushes at Imola, they’re not competitive and they know it. That’s embarrassing. It’s something you can bet on Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes rubbing in their faces given the chance.
Imola Odds Remain Tantalizingly Equal On Top Drivers
Of course, you can bet on Red Bull to do all in their power to wipe the self-satisfied smirk off Hamilton’s face. Right now the odds on Max Verstappen are shorter than those for a bet on Lewis Hamilton in race two. Imola, however, is unforgiving. The pressure very much now on his shoulders, Max has to keep his cool. Easier said than done for Max. So going into the Variante Tamburello wheel to wheel with a Mercedes on lap one could end rather badly for everyone.

If he can hold it together in the early moments, Max is a good bet on the Emilie Romagna Grand Prix. Of course, a bet on Lewis Hamilton getting ahead and staying there is equally as valid. Perhaps that’s why both get 5/4 to win at Imola from the bookies like Bet365. However, if you’re going to take advantage of Italian gambling laws to bet on F1 long term notice the Constructors championship odds. Mercedes get the edge in that book, and there’s a reason. Their reliability.
Bet On Lewis Hamilton At Bet365
This is a long season. That may prove telling. Sure, Red Bull impressed everyone with their long distance test runs, but they face 23 races this year. That’s a challenge for all the teams, but Red Bull are going to push harder. Especially now. So as well as worrying about their driver blowing it, they have to worry about their engine blowing up. Thus if you’re wavering between the two a bet on Lewis Hamilton is probably wisest. After all, who’d bet on Mercedes breaking down?
2021 Drivers’ Championship Odds
- Anyone Else – 66/1+
- Sergio Perez – 33/1
- Valtteri Bottas – 25/1
- Max Verstappen – 6/4
- Lewis Hamilton – 4/6
Naturally, the one thing that might change that is the weather. Max loves the rain and they do seem to predict a bit of rain this weekend in Imola. You can already bet on Lewis Hamilton having to battle the squirrelly Mercedes, in the wet he might lose that fight. So, if it rains, and especially if it rains hard, you might have to select Max at online sportsbook sites in Italy like Bet365. Tricky, isn’t it? After years of dull Merc dominance F1 is suddenly an interesting wager again.
We look at why you should probably bet on Lewis Hamilton to win the Emilie Romagna Grand Prix…….unless it rains.
